I have a 68 340-S fastback stripper...
Automatic with console, manual brakes (10" drums), manual steering, heater only... That's it...
Just an automatic with a console....
And, spleaking of strippers...
68 on top, 67on the bottom, for the difference in the grilles. For 69, completely different
I also have a well loaded 67 Formula S fastback...
273 4 bbl, 904 auto, console, factory tach, A/C, power steering, power brakes, Kelsey Hayes 4 caliper front brakes, 8 3/4" with 3.23 sure grip, hood mounted turn signals, and bumper guards, California emissions....

Just to elaborate on this oddity, this particular profile distorted the view out the rear window, and customers complained, so they changed it in 68. Same thing happened with the plastic lock strip window trim — customers of the 67s complained about it when it shrank. I have to think that Mopar already was tooling up for the stainless pieces — I think they just missed the cutoff for the 67 introduction.

Capt 46, that thing is awesome!
One other obscure difference: 67s with the 273 Commando (which could be Formula S or not) got a unique rear valance with a single driver side rectangular cut out. Standard valance had a single round cutout. 383-S had dual round cutouts. The 273 was dropped in 68, but the 340-S got dual rectangular cutouts instead.

The ones with upper and lower trunk trim moldings are a year only 1968, also have the backup within the tail light lens.

The 68 340 four speed was about the baddest of the three too. Get those extra two cylinders RRR!!
Hmmmmm the little 340 from the 69 Plymouth definitely kicks a little azzzzz

The 68 Barracuda has been my favorite car since I was 16 years old. I was wanting to change it around a bit.
Make a feature or two something Chrysler could have done.
The grill is my take on that. I fit in the grill and head light surrounds from a ‘67 Coronet. The outer head lamps are the low and high beams. The driver side inside lamp is one of those flame throwers bulbs. The passenger side inside housing is a cold air intake for the motor. I fabricated-shaped the surrounds that trim out the front grill.
I have all of the OE bezels and grill work. Nothing on the car itself was modified to install the new pieces. So I could easily swap it back to stock.
The car is a summer time driver and I have also drag raced the car. This past summer I ran the 68 B in two Autocross events and plan to do more of that.
