You never really "know" what's gone on inside the case.Is there a way to determine from the outside if a cable shift 904 or 727 is from a pushbutton, console, or early column shift car, or do you have to open it up and look at the valve body?
I'm dangerously ill informed on this, but, the valve body is not the only difference in the pushbutton cases. The galleries cast in the case vary as well. The date code list I found only goes back to 65. https://mymopar.com/downloads/transguide.pdf
I have a cable shift 727 from a Poly A engine car, was hoping I could use it in a 64 pushbutton car.
Sounds like pushbutton had the second park cable on the tailshaft while console/column did not, is that accurate? I've heard of swapping in the valve body from a pushbutton transmission into an early column/console unit, which suggests it's not accurate.
I had assumed the trunion flange jsut indicated early/late transmission, but is the PB different from early console/column?
Sounds like I will be looking at valve bodies regardless.

The other is a 727:

Ahh- it’s a big block bellhousing, didn’t realize that. Maybe the 904 instead.Double check that if you could.

2408001 - 3 are 904s
Oh! Guess my ID skills were worse that I realized, but that’s good news. They're both 727s from what I'm seeing
