I’ve got a not so similar HEI set up.

It looks to be an older cobbled together CDI ignition system with the heat sink exposed to bleed of the heat they produced. We had something resembling the picture way back in the 70s.

No, it is GM HEI [ which is not CD ]. You can plainly see the angled terminals used by GM, in both set ups.
