I would like to heard experiences about Indy Maxx aluminium blocks. How is quality? What should be noted? Where to buy? Straight from Indy? How is customer service today? Im looking to buy low deck version from this block for mainly street use.

I haven't used or bought one of those blocks, but I have delt with indy very recently, and there customer service has improved greatly. Call them up, ask for Deanna, she will take care of you.

I just saw one. It looked very nice but I didn’t measure anything.

That's really good to hear. When Russ and Fred owned it, I would bite down on my mouthpiece before I called and ordered anything from them. Their customer service was bipolar, and you never knew which version you'd get.

Glad to hear that's changed. Right on.

I have a friend that bought one prior to the new owners taking over. It was so bad that it had to be returned for an exchange.

Flagle's knew they sold him a piece of junk, but Mark was smart enough to take it straight to the machine shop. The next day he was back in Indy.

I have no idea what the new owners are selling, but if you buy one I would be very clear about what will happen if it doesn't measure out correctly.

they're a nice casting. I'm working on a hemi block, unfortunately not mine but it's a very stout piece for aluminum. This particular block was strange, as it is rough bored and the customer wanted 4.375 pistons, I figured it would be fine but it turned out the .015 that I bored would have been good to clean it up for honing and it did not, so the customer is going for a 4.500 piston because the bottom of the bore had 65% of the cylinder that was .005 out of round.
The sleeves are extremely hard and really did a number on my patience and the cutter tip.

Thank you for answers. Im bit strugling about buy decision as its quite pricy piece and If there is some casting flaws it isnt easy to return block as I live in Finland. I have heard about some quality issues in casting and those blocks mixed oil & water so atleast blocks should be pressure tested. My machinist said he has done 7 Indy aluminium blocks so far and no issues with those, just some rough machining but he said there was no issues as there was enought material for finish machining.

I contacted Southeast Performace for block and suggested Bill Mitchell block right away as its better quality. Bill Mitchell doesnt offer low deck blocks so they will contact Indy for block. They Said that that there has been some problems Indy blocks leaking water somewhere near main area. I asked If they could pressure test block before sending and inspect that block carefully around before shipping. I wish everything goes well.
