Help! I have 2 intakes for a 318, both will not fit. When placed on the engine, and i place one side against the left head, the right head is almost 1/4" away from the other side of the intake!! This is on a new weiand intake, and an old edelbrock sp2 intake! Both are too "narrow". The engine is all stock, and the old intake was a one barrel. The heads only have one marking on them, a big "3" by the spark plugs. HELP!:tard:

Sounds like the heads and/or block have been trimmed. Center the intake and see if the bolts line up and start. Only so much you can do stacking gaskets.

I have the same problem with and intake I bought from Professional Products. I have always had an oil leak on the passenger side of the intake. After I received the new catalog from them they had added the listing of *318, 340, & 360. *97 and later 318s only. I don't know it that has any thing to do with the oil leak or not but the bolts have never seated properly either. But then againit is made in China.

ive notice some smallblocks have a dial pin at the rear of the block to locate the factory intake.i pull them out, because i havent seen any sftermarket intakes with the 1/8 inch hole in them.they stick up about 1/4 inch high

I think the trimmed staement could be true. Weiands have gotten some complaints around the boards for ill fit, but also on a SP2 Edel. hummmmm.

I Think Tobysoldblue Has Your Fix. I Had The Same Problem With Mine Except Mine Had A Pin On Both Front And Rear Of The Block, Pulled Them Out And It Fit Fine. Good Luck. Bobby

ok, fixed. the cork end gaskets are so thick, they made the intakes both fit too high. used RTV only instead, now works fine!! just have to figure out how to rig up the linkage... argh..

What linkage? What carb? 2bbl. linkage onto the 4bbl?

Heres what I did. A lock nut or nylon nut on a bolt moved up to meet the throttle arm for quick to instant pressure on the linkage. Ugly, but it works like a charm should.

Later, I purchased a Lokar kit for the gas pedal and tranny linkage.
Expensive but preeety and shiiiiiiiny. And expensive...wait, did Isay it cost a bit.....

Notice how I had to make a plate for the OE AVS. They do not have an adapter for old OE carbs, but do for modern Carter or Edelbrock carbs.
