I've been digging a little recently on the 74/75 Hang Ten cars.

Seems "Hang Ten" is a clothing brand, still in business today, but goes back to the 60's.

Guess who endorsed them?

I wonder if that company had anything to do with the interior design/styling in the Dart Sport package.

I did see some vintage shirts that could be considered "in the same ball park"-

I used to wear Hang Ten shirts all the time, growing up in Florida. Hang Ten was a common surfing term. Hang Ten did design the interiors for those A-Body cars. Marketed for the young surfing crowd, hence the fold down rear seat to accommodate transporting your surfboard to the beach and back.

I have never heard that from any source or read it in any documentation or write up.

You would think it would have appeared in one of the magazine articles.

I owned a Hang Ten. Saved it from the jaws of Death (literally) at the local crusher, and took it to the 'Nats behind my friend Chris's Dakota. Sold it to the greatest little gal Kristina S, who FULLY restored it, and gave me TONS of free stuff from her vendor table when we went back and happened to see it at the 'Nats again like 8 years later. She could've been a pro restorer. I've always looked for her here, and never seen her. She loved that little car.

There was a hang ten for sale in my area a few months ago. I posted it in the Craigslist thread.

Also, there are no "Feet" logos to be found anywhere on those cars.

You would think if a certain "identity" was the goal, they would be there.

Piere Cardin AMC's have the signature.

Eddie Bauer fords- not sure, but I think so.

Levi's Jeep/AMC- you betcha.

What else was period "designer" car trim?

The EB fords were later, though.

Available for 1976, and then again for 1977 when the Mark IV was redesigned and became the Mark V, were the Bill Blass, Cartier, Emilio Pucci, and Givency Designer Series packages.

I also noticed in that somewhat hard to read ad in the OP, they do not mention Landy's name.

Curios.

You may very well be right. I may have just lept to that conclusion between the name and that beautiful interior, except for the orange carpet.

I always found that odd, too.

The vinyl graphics are red, white and blue, but the carpet is orange?

I had always assumed as I see others have, too on FABO, that it just faded strange.

But with a ...J6VW interior code on the fender tag, it's definitely orange and white.

That's it,....Popsicle Cremesicle created the exterior/carpet design, Hang Ten did the panels upholstery,....solved!!!! You're :welcome:
