Is it possible to keep old style electronic VR with a dual field alternator?

-
Do you recall which wires you splice the newer style VR plug into?
Im trying to back track someone elses handiwork.
The challenge in your case is what ever was done doesn't work. (I understand knowing the right way helps, just saying that's not what you've got to solve here).

IMO you're going to have to do some unwrapping.
I would also disconnect the battery, and then use an ohmmeter or continuity tester to check these.
Need to find three connections that would have been neccessary to use a ground controlling regulator (triangular connector).
1. Regulator sensing wire.
2. Feed for the field (goes to one field terminal).
3. Switched ground for the field (connects to the lower pin on the VR)
4. Feed for ECU's power. (not directly related but you might as well know what they did)

Thanks, I wonder if those 2 wires into the old style Electronic upgraded VR would work?

From the photos, it looks like the mystery changes are on the ignition 1 and what taps into it.
Plus - there's a gromment with wires through the firewall which I'm guessing may be for the ECU??

If you're not too far, send me a PM, and maybe I can give you a hand one evening.

Not sure which two wires you're referring to.
This is what I see.
