I’m about to replace my leaky 45 year old oil pressure sending unit on my slant six with a NOS sender patented with the “Dryseal” threads.

Should I put some sort of gasket sealer on there as well ?

If the sender is truly 45 years old or more, it probably wouldn't hurt to run a wire wheel onto the threads and then put either Teflon tape or liquid thread sealer on it. I'd think at this point that factory sealer is junk but I am guessing. Better safe than sorry.

Oil senders are pipe thread, usually 1/8 npt. Pipe dope or Teflon tape is acceptable. Keep whatever you use off the end, and about 1 thread from the end.

PST 592.. I've put that **** on everything with liquid flowing though it for over 25 years. Aircraft, vehicles and plumbing. Not a single leak...

Patented with 'dryseal'. In the decades since the engine was made, maybe new substances have been invented that seal without additional sealer. I would install it without additional sealer.
