is this wire a ground?

Thats a tach out from the MSD. not needed. If it IS grounded, there could be issues.

the wiring pics start on page 10/11 and it depends on which distributor you have etc for the diagram you choose
 
Yes it does Mike. Always has,I'm sorry that I am not on much anymore. Miss the old times,we had some good ones!
 
actually some of the msd when you ground the tach wire that sets the rev limit... so you run the engine at 2000rpm and ground the tach wire it makes the rev limit 6000

dont quote me i dont use that particular model i dont know the exact features specs for that model

but grounding the tach wire can be a way to set rev limit on some models
 
Actually, the white CAN be grounded through a switch, and used for "anti theft."
