Does anybody know if the IVR in my 65 Dart is the kind that's built into the fuel gauge or is it the plug-in type? I am going to be taking out my instrument cluster/dash to paint it and I thought if I plug in a new solid state IVR maybe I might get lucky and fix my non-working fuel and temp gauges. This is at the far limit of my mechanical ability but I thought I'd give it a try.

In the 65 Dart it’s built in to the fuel gauge unlike the 65 Valiant which has a separate IVR

So do you think the reason the fuel and temp gauges don't work may be the IVR? If so, how would I fix it? Anything I should replace while I have the dash apart?

You could try swapping to a known good gas gauge or disabling the IVR within the gauge and adding one of those electronic one from RTS (and probably others as well). I believe RTS has a video on their website about how to do this modification. I would probably go this route and be done with it.

EDIT: good chance that’s why both gas and fuel gauge are inoperative.
