Hello all. I just got this car about a week ago. Been looking for one a long time. My first car was like this one. Still needs a lot of work but it’s a driver. Could someone decode the fender tag for me. Thanks a lot.

Hello Dan, very nice 69 Dart you got hooked up with. Welcome to FABO from the Land of Lincoln.

Welcome to the site, sweet 69. Looking at your tag Alpine white paint with blue interior sounds nice. Dustin

Thanks. I used the decoder and it seems the dart is a demon. 273 190hp with a 904

Welcome to FABO. I see a 273 2 barrel with a 904. Yes white with a blue bench seat interior.

Demons can be considered a sub model of Darts but Darts aren't Demons. The LL23 is a L=Dodge Dart L=Low price class and 23= 2 door hardtop. It's a Dart.

There was no Demon in '69, so that's not possible.
That's why I'm not nuts about those online decoders. It's easy to get conflicting information. PROBABLY THE BEST INFORMATION IS THE Galen books but they aren't perfect either.

The decoders are not always accurate as some span a 5 to 10 year period. Some codes were recycled in later years meaning there are two or more items for one code.

Nice car! I'm on the hunt for a 69 Dart myself, just can't seem to find one that's not a rustbucket.

Good luck with the hunt. I look s long time the ones I found were either rotted or I couldn’t afford them. I think I got lucky with this one. It need some more body work and the front suspension needs rebuilt/replaced. But I drive it to work today

801 is the build date - August 1, 1968. Very early car off the assembly line at Hamtramck #359

Nice Dart!
