There was a great article on the TTI exhaust install on an "A" body. Good pics and commentary of welded versus clamped etc.

I am getting ready to install Doug's and Pypes, so it hit my sweet spot. We've all seen articles like this...(the timing is) as if they knew what you were up to on your car. Very accurate, from the perspective that you "could do it in your driveway".

The next article was about obtaining resto parts, which vendors and why.... The article had to have been written by someone who's never "done it", as it was seemingly void of factual parts acquistion (issues) and was chaulk full of the obvious.

Is it just me?

Pete

ALWAYS be skeptical of magazine articles. Magazines are just big advertisements and exist to promote products. They're not going to tell the down side, it would po the manufacturer. Sadly, most hot rod parts are some of the worst engineered products I've ever used. I'll bet if we started a thread listing poor products and why, it'd be longer than the "Babes" thread!

You did good to get the doug's. They are around the same quality and fit as the TTI's at a better price. TTI advertises in there Mag and gives them free headers to put on there personal cars. There not going to say any thing bad about them.

That other add was just some advertising for it's customers. NO not us. The advertisers are the mags real customers.

i agree. just like the article (forget what magazine) that was done on the tti headers in an early a-body which failed to tell ya that you needed a $200 starter.... idiots!. :)

all the mopar magazines EXCEPT for mopar enthusiast will not do articles on parts from a NON-advertiser. kinda takes all the credibility away from them now doesn't it.

That article on where to source resto parts was a complete and utter joke!! :angry7: A complete insult to readers' intelligence.

As someone who worked many years in the magazine business, I know this was a blatant "added-value" deal for their advertisers. (Buy X number of pages and get free editorial.) This should have been clearly noted as "advertorial". Mopar Muscle made a big deal a few years ago about how they were adding so many pages per issue. All they added was more advertisements and drivel like this "article".

so the doug's were mentioned, will they fit in a 69 barracuda w/360, and power steering without beating the tar out of them?

for headers. They look like shorties, no doubt TTIs.

I had mentioned that I was getting ready to do Doug's/Pypes on my 68 GTS. I have the Doug's headers and just waiting on Summit to deliver the Pypes system. It's a 4 speed, so no doubt I'll be removing my pivot rod etc.

On the resto article, I would have thought it would have mentioned that joining websites like this would allow collaboration with others, who have "done it" before (right or wrong) and share ideas...

Is that too obvious?

Pete

I thought Mopar Muscle's parent company filed for chapter 11...

That mag has been lacking as of late...subscriptions are way down.
