I got this K member with some parts for a 1969 Barracuda. Although I believe it is the correct width for an A Body, the underside is cut out for the sway bar to pass through. I think the mounts are located for a small block. It has a coin, but it is welded well off center. I cannot find any numbers on it so far. Any idea what this is K member might have been on originally?

I am super interested......I had the same thing on a '71 Demon. (no coin though). This doesn't make sense. I initially thought that someone had modified a barrel mount K frame (new style sway bar) to the biscuit mounts. After seeing yours, I am doubting that.

Like yours, mine is drilled for the older style sway bar mounts.

I have a six k frame that is the same way. Open on the bottom but 67-72 biscuit mounts on the top.
Also that is a V-8 k frame.
My best guess is that retooling had started for the 73 model year and end of run 72 got those types of frames.

But that’s just a guess

I’m pretty sure it’s a 340 k member, should see reinforcements on front of k member by strut holes if In fact 340 k member.

Are the coins ever centered on A body from factory? They are to drivers side on B/E bodies.

I found some numbers. Looks like 187 22. It does have the reinforcements for the lower control arm holes. It also has some blue overspray on the front of it. Not sure what the numbers mean but surmising that the car was wrecked after I sold it in September of 1973, the repairs included replacement of the K member. It probably was new then from the parts counter. Got the blue overspray during the repair. I believe that this K member was on the car until he removed it to put a big block K member in. I thought this was the wrong K member, so I had another one that I took from a 1969 Barracuda blasted and painted. This one is in pretty good condition, so maybe I'll change and use this one instead.
