Kickdown linkage removal?

Hi folks.
Im trying to extract the throttle kickdown so that I can cut an lengthen it and cant for the life of me figure out how to get it off the car?


I just realised you need to know what section I want off. I have the bracket off the manifold and that rod to carb out. The section I want now is the rod the runs behind the block to a bell crank on the trans near the exh.
Car is a 1971 Dart 318 904 AT.

Thanks for any ideas and help.
 
There are clips that you put the linkage end through, and they clip onto the shaft and keep the linkages in place, but let them rotate freely.
 
Here are pictures of the linkage for a 71 Val 318 2 bbl at the trans end. this shows the clip and how it fits on. There are left hand and right hand clips, and if you use the wrong one, it will restrict the movement of the linkage. The clip is missing from the one end, but works the same as the one as I showed.

Heres what I got so far.

I know the new threads arnt right on center...

Left side is old.fine thread that I cut off.

Right side is new thread welded on and hardware store new adjuster.
