Anyone ever consider DIY'ing a belt drive for a AL Mopar? My idea would have to ditch the Mopar water pump, but use the housing. Put any belt cog on the crank and matching crank cog off a hub that extends off the camshaft through the water pump housing through an oil seal. Dont know what it would look or act like after its all put back together, but the water pump would be a remote Davies-Craig unit with a shogun manifold or a GM style with extensions, hang that baby off the motor about 4 inches. B/RB would be much simpler with its stamped timing cover. thoughts? Are there such things as wet belt drives? Keep it all behind the timing cover? or a very thin plate to keep the oil behind the housing? Benefits? Just thinking out loud......
