I'll get right on it and thanks for the suggestion. Of course if I ship it south they'll be a tariff on itMark, we need one of these as our prizes![]()
That sucks and can't understand why people blame others that give them advice and they do the total opposite.I give up. No more advice from me. In a short period of time:
Item 1: A good friend wanted to buy an OBS Ford truck, and since I had three of them at the time (I sold one this past weekend), he asked me for some advice. Said advice included what to look (and look out) for, where in the country to purchase a clean, rust free truck, geographically speaking, how to go about doing a long distance purchase, yadda, yadda. Well, he found a truck in Oregon, but he didn't listen to me, and now all of the problems regarding the bad title and dishonest transport company are my fault (I won't go into the details).
Item 2: A family friend has a son who recently bought a "fixer upper" home, and since he's a handyman by trade it's seems to be a good fit for him. But he doesn't know HVAC, so at the request of my wife I went over there and spent over an hour walking him through the ins and outs of furnace sizing, duct sizing, A/C sizing, etc, etc. But again- Did he listen? Nope! Damn fool kid bought a furnace that has twice the airflow capacity that the house needs ("...it was a great deal..."), he didn't upsize the ductwork before finishing the basement ceiling like I told him to, and now that it's noisy, this is somehow my fault.
Item 3: One of our Service Techs at work burned-up a $2,000 VFD (variable frequency drive) because he didn't follow the settings and parameters I sent to him. I have only 30+ years experience working with them, so what do I know? Anyway, since he's one of the Golden Haired Boys around here, his failure to follow my step-by-step instructions is somehow, again, my fault.
I just told my boss I will not be providing Tech Support to his guys any longer, nor am I going to offer any opinions and/or advice to anyone- family or friends. I quit, and from now on, to the maximum extent possible, I'm going to adhere to JRR Tolkien's words (from The Fellowship of the Ring):“For advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill."
Personally, I think it comes down to accountability, as that seems to be a rare commodity these days. That sucks and can't understand why people blame others that give them advice and they do the total opposite.
This is where the " I told you so" becomes your little pleasure. Embrace it. I used to hold my words but now, I just smile and nod, and give a litttle yup " I tried tellin ya, but no...I give up. No more advice from me. In a short period of time:

It really has become a world where nobody is going to accept the responsibility for their own **** ups. I can't fault you for not wanting to put yourself in the position of getting **** on for trying to help someone else. I have found that I am doing the same thing more and more often because I am just tired of the lame excuses that flow from the mouths of the morons who are simply too ignorant to listen to the advice they asked for.I give up. Just made one of my old bachelor dinners. Haven’t had it for along time. A simple but very tasty dish. Pork chops, potatoes, carrots smothered in sour kraut in a roaster. Little bit of horse radish for pork. Oink squeal. That sucks and can't understand why people blame others that give them advice and they do the total opposite.

What a gorgeous day yesterday and the same again today.
Going to a show 30 miles from here and it's muscle car night.
Haven't been to this one yet this year but like other shows it will be closing in a few weeks.
Again, I shake my head. A 15 year old boy fired a gun and the bullet went through a window and killed an 8 year old sitting with his mom in bed. Police are looking for 2 other subjects.
Welcome to Toronto!!! This is all you hear on the news today. Someone got shot or stabbed or someone was killed in a hit and run. Some days you should just stay home.
Well, it's time to get off the pedestal.
Have a great day
