Wife was chatting with the neighbor 4 houses over last night while walking the dogs, and turns out they have a bear den down in their swamp. We haven’t seen it…yet….but another neighbors dog got into a spat with it (the bear) and now there’s a bunch of finger pointing going on over who’s gonna pay the vet bill.

Not. Getting. Involved.

Me either, and have no desire to do so anytime soon!

Since we walk the dogs past there at least twice a day my wife and I are considering “carrying”. She’s taken gun safety courses, and is comfortable shooting my S&W M&P 9 mm at the range, but outdoors…..don’t know what to think about this yet. Still too new.

Got the condensing unit up and mounted to the back of the “shep” yesterday, and this morning I ran the line set up in the attic before it got too hot.

Kinda cutting it close on whether I get this project done before the snow flies. We’ll see….

I wouldn't shoot a bear with a 9mm you just piss them off.

I know! I have enough experience with the “9” where I think I could place enough rounds to give it a serious Excedrin headache, but….

Don’t think the neighbors would care for me walking around with my 30/30 or ought-6, either!

30-06, 308, 270, wouldn’t matter but my preference would be my Browning 7mm rem mag. Bear tenderloin on bbq for supper

Never heard of bear spray.
The best use of bear spray is to disabled your hiking partner and readily making an escape. Big joke around here. Lol
It really is effective. A well placed 45 slug will bounce off the head of a grizzly. They really aren't the beast we make them out to be.

:rofl:That's a great joke. I ran across a few brown bears when I lived in the mountains in Washington State and also Cougars. neither was aggressive and just wanted to be left alone.

The lions are pretty sneaky. i]Ive had them stock me. Funny thing, deer will do the same.
Whitetail,Especially if you spook them in the bush. Look around find a place to sit and be quiet and wait, playing the wind. He will circle around to see what spooked him, 90% you will get another look at him. I don’t know about stocking but have had them follow me in bush. Think it’s more curiosity. That’s why standing as much or more than your walking is important in getting a look at him.
