Am experiencing oil leaking past rotor to spindle seal. Used Mobil 1 synthetic grease to lubricate bearings. Noticed how this oil tends to separate out of grease. Now have oil running past seal down rotor and accumulating on inside wheel rim. Was this the incorrect type of grease to use? States for wheel bearings. This grease was chosen because it's tendency to flow better than typical wheel bearing grease. Do I have to much grease inside hub? Has anyone experienced this issue using this grease or any other for that matter?

Is it hi temp grease? If not it may be melting.

Are your seals in the right way? Lots of people install them backwards by mistake.

Temp range is -57 to 475 F. Its been leaking without running the car.

Regarding seals. Only know of one way to install them. Have never had this issue.

Fit new seals to the spindles before installing them. A lot of junk being sold on line. Spring on seal faces the lube which is inward..
I'm conscious of buying subpar parts. Don't think I did so in this occasion but may have. Seals in correctly. Springs inward.

It is normal for a small amount of oil to separate from thickener (not unlike peanut butter) from sitting, heat, vibration. If the wheel were turning at least it would be mixing. You can stir it back in before packing but it sounds excessive. I'd switch to a calcium sulfonate base for a better, more stable grease. That one is lithium complex. Don't pack the cavity full either; just the bearings and behind the seals.

Sounds like you know your grease. Am encouraged by your response. Thanks.
