Well, bought these LED Jeep headlights for my Jeep Wrangler... They arrived yesterday, and was about to install in my Jeep (honest) BUT, had this thought... " Let me see if they might fit the old 65 'cuda first... Removed one headlight from the headlight bucket and with new LED head light dangling & plugged into stock wire harness, I turned on my light switch... Wow... (I was sold at this point to move forward after seeing a Big Difference)... Now the LED unit did not want to go into the bucket, but almost did... Got out my Calipers and started measuring ... The back of the LED is a Aluminum Housing... Hell, I can machine that... And that is what I did!!! Love the results and Looks ... By time I got her all done, it was night... Turned them on, adjusted the beams... Never once did I start the 'cuda .... The LED stayed cool to the touch... No noticable power drop... And such a White light... Now "All" the Lights (except for the radio) are LED's in the old 'cuda !!!!
Ugh... Gotta re order Another set of LED headlamps for the Jeep !!!! LoL But, will be out this coming Saturday night with the 'cuda banging gears somewhere in the Arizona Desert... testing of course... ⚓ 20180410_212415.jpg 20180410_164603.jpg 20180410_205548.jpg 20180410_212148.jpg

clifcuda, did you paint or topcoat the exposed machined aluminum surfaces prior to installation?

Not yet... Now that it is proven out and working... I'm going back in to do finish details... Paint being just one of the "detailing" :)

I"ve wondered about LED lights in these A Bodies, going to give it a try too. The old sealed beam headlights just don't make it at night.

With the oem light and stock wiring they sure don't.

Run a relay kit with a nighthawk sealed halogen and you'd be surprised how effective the old stuff can be. I have a bunch of customers that have done that and mention the lights are as good as any newer car they drive. Bright doesn't mean that you can see it and the pattern the headlight provides is REALLY important.

Cool on the machining Clif. Hotrodding at it's best!.

I've just installed LED light bulbs in my Dart. Inside the H4 lens-unit. I'm not that fond of the cleartype lens (yet).
'Stock replacement' LEDs which plug right in the original connector.
Haven't driven at dark yet but the light is much whiter when testing on my garage door.

Tonight, After initial adjustment to get LED Headlamps adjusted so I don't blind anyone... ( I think I have them set pretty low... ) I still have not started 65 cuda nor put it on a charger.. so strictly battery on this test... Will fire up 'cuda Saturday for cruise night !
One photo will be low beams... A straight wide swath... Other is High Beams... Both aimed at my 6 foot block wall 36 feet from my front bumper for reference .
Very first photo was just a fun shot 2 days ago.

IMG_20170502_110644.jpg By showing you the LED H4 "High & Low Beam" photos, you can judge if it is worth the $$ & Work to install these or some other Lighting Kit... I am NO Expert on this... I am just desperately trying to find something that will let my 73 year old eyes see where the Hell I am going so I can keep driving my 65 'cuda... And I think I have succeded... My photos don't do it justice... But I love what I am seeing ... So I am sharing so you other Old Geezers (I'm sure I am not alone) can keep driving your rides !!! Here in the Arizona Desert, car hang outs are at "Night" during the Summer months !!! ⚓

The light emitted looks nice enough. Probably too late for 'before-and-after' pics... :)

Yeah, You are correct, a little late for the 'before-and-after' pics on my 65'cuda... Though I did it, but just Failed to photo it... My Bad... But, what a difference... The old light was just a small spot on my Garage door... And the LED 4H assembly was this very Wide (horizontal) White light !!! Inside this LX-Light 7" Round Black Creek LED 4H assembly there are multiple LED bulbs...
Well, tonight is the Road Test... Will find out if I have to adjust them down more... Or Up? Or leave them alone...there are a lot a very, very Dark Roads out here in the Arizona Desert... Wish me luck... LoL ⚓

Did see this this morning while cleaning all my fingerprints and dust off for tonight's car hang out event...

As soon as I am done here, I fire the old 'cuda up ... Feel like a Kid with a new Toy at the moment... 20180414_131401.jpg

Last night's Test of LED Headlamps was Very Successful... No one flashed me so I assume my adjustments are good to go. Driving the 65 'cuda was like driving my 09 Challenger SRT with it's HID headlights.. I could see everything with out straining my eyes... "Done" !!!! Onto next project.

                                              Thank You Guys ! :)

Are your parking lights led also? And is it an amber bulb with a clear lense or other way around?
