I couldn't really find or think of a better name for it. It's basically a part that you got a good deal on or had laying around that caused a project to snowball.

I had this carb laying around so I bought this project car......
Got a good deal on these pistons so it's now on race gas with 4.56's :usflag:

A single W2 bare head…….. my life has been a living nightmare since. And now I’m poor to boot.

Craigslist 383 for $50, now it needs a home! I know buy a car for it. FML

This was a while ago, but it started with a 426 inline dual quad for $50... Then a set of StageV hemi heads (the kind that bolted on to a B/RB block) for $500 that needed a bunch of repairs... a set of Hemi rods for $100 because the guy was going to aluminum rods, and another $50 for the stock standard bore pistons from the same guy...
I was on the prowl for a 426 RB block when "life" suddenly slapped me in the face and I had to liquidate everything. At least it didn't get a chance to snowball beyond that.
Now you can't find anything Hemi that doesn't have a couple more zeros on the price tag it seems.

A set of used Procomp small block heads that were opened up in the bowl so big that I had to go to 2.08 valves. That snowballed into plugging the pushrod holes and using w2 rockers and finding a w2 intake and....a LOT of work..

Over 20 years ago, I was debating to build the slant six in my Dart or swap in a V8 when I found somebody was selling a K-car turbo with a flange welded onto a slant six manifold, and a carb that was prepped for boost.

Turns out the manifold wasn't very well welded, the turbo was too small, and the carb had been worked over by someone with more end mills than tuning knowledge. Now the project is up to EFI, a turbo the size of a basketball, and I'm just finishing up swapping in an 8 3/4" rear end...

Abount 10 years ago, I picked up a Weiand Tunnel ram for an RB at a swap meet / drag race in Xenia Ohio. No plans for it, got it cheap enough that it could have been shop art. Now, it's.... well a major part of this machine!

Edelbrock TR5 tunnel ram for small block. Dad bought it at a swap and had it sitting in his living room for about ten years. Then we built the gasser Cuda for the tunnel ram in my avatar.

I started with a 318 Dodge Coronet 500. Then wanted a 340 but the car really needed a 383. i found a 340 but the guy wanted to sell the whole car not just the engine. that car ended up being my 70 Dart Swinger 340 C7 4 speed car. the Coronet ended up going by bye and I restored the Swinger which, when I had both cars side by side the Coronet was the better looking car...people thought I was nuts for keeping the Dart. One friend said "there isn't a straight panel on it..."

I bought my 1971 340 Demon with numbers matching engine, trans and diff for $4500.......Missing a few pieces, and a few holes.

35K later......You know the drill :BangHead: .......Almost ready for the road 7 years later.

I have an original 70s Mopar CB radio out of a truck. One day I will find a Lil Red Express to pair it with.

I bought a 2006 5.7 Hemi with 6K miles on it for dirt cheap. Went down the rabbit hole of putting it in my 70 Duster. Bought headers and mounts, then a 545RFE 2WD transmission and got all that stuff mounted. I was to the point of buying a harness to make it run when my wife & I bought our little tin condo in a campground in Myrtle Beach. A year of remodeling the permanently set up camper derailed my work on the Duster with a 600 mile round trip every other weekend. By the time I got back to it, I couldn't make myself pay what the harnesses had gone up to. I yanked all that Hemi crap out and sold it, so now I'm back to making it a 340 four speed car just like I'd planned to start with. :BangHead:

I used to work at Year One. I bought some qtr panels really cheap for a cuda that were returned bc of minor shipping damage. Couple months later someone posted a 73 barracuda for sale on the bulletin board. Bought it and used the qtrs I already had on it.

Bought the avatar as a roller thinking I'd just drop a motor in it and go racing. Well, we did that but not before:
1. Sandblast/paint engine compartment
2. Rebuild front suspension/add SPC UCA's
3. All new fuel cell/system
4. New brake lines
5. 100% new wiring for entire car (to my own design)
6. New cooling system
7. Painted the hood
8. Added stripe package
9. Added shifter
10. Rebuilt door hinges/new striker
Etc, etc, blah, blah, blah

Was it worth it? You bet it was!!

Bought a pair of NOS W2 bare heads back around 88. Slowly been collecting all the stuff to go with them. Don't have the rocker arms and hardware. I'm not a racer and I'm thinking I can't justify using them on a street cruiser-kind of a waste or overkill. Unless I'd win the lottery:lol:. They might be for sale one of these days.

have a 13 year old that i liking cars now ....
and so much for my all stock 6cyl dart
