I'm putting together a 360 LA with Magnum heads. I keep seeing people saying to run AMC lifters because they oil through the push rods. Does anybody have a part number for these or, the information on what years and size engine thrse lifters were originally intended for? Your help is appreciated.

Does this not require further Mods?

Most manufacturers only make lifters with the oil holes now... since AMC V8s and Mopar lifters are identical otherwise, they only make the one style; at least all the ones I've seen in the last 10-15 years are. Check their part numbers for their AMC vs. Mopar sets- I'll bet you they're the same in almost all cases. Never hurts to ask before you order, though. Just check to make sure if you're buying old inventory or someone else's leftovers.

There are other things like having pushrods made after you measure for them and, using the correct intake drilled to bolt on magnum heads.

Thats what I thought as most of the ones I have seen on Summit list Chrysler and AMC under the same number. I was just wanting to pick some brains to make sure I wasn't crazy.

      Thanks

Mopar slant six hydraulic lifters oil down through the pushrods. They are .903 diameter like a v8 hydraulic lifter. The hydraulic slant rockers are made with internal passages to take pressurized oil from the rocker shaft and direct it to the lifters.
Although I cannot imagine the advantage of a top oiler lifter vs the standard v8 side oiler setup.

The Magnum heads don't use a rocker shaft like an LA series motor so, to get oil to the rocker arms they use the top oiling lifters and hollow push rods.

Yes. You will need special length pushrods and a carb intake for the Mag heads or drill the Mag heads for LA intake. There are AirGap knock off intakes with dual pattern.

Yes..Thank you. I know all that, I was just triple checking the lifter situation as I know some members have used Magnum heads on their LA motors.
