Hi all,
Ok guys and girls I’m trying to gather info on this camshaft I pulled from my 340. The back story was when I rebuilt the motor in 1983 I installed a 284/484 DC camshaft. Sold the car, got it back last year.

Pulled the motor apart and it’s the same short block I built (pistons and bearings at least) and still has the purple shaft cam. Using the cam again and went to degree it in and checked lift at the lifter and got .354”, wait a minute, that’s kinda high while I’m doing the fast finger math. .530” lift or so, not the old DC cam I installed.

Cam may have been reground or something so I’m gonna run the cam around this weekend and get the profile and timing of both lobes but for now here’s what I have.

Numbers on the rear are what I’m gonna guess as the “lobe profile” and the other is maybe the duration and lift, don’t know.

Scribed on the nose of the cam are what looks like BC 282/287 H10 or H/O and 534162 not too clear because it’s been rubbing on the cam plate.

Ok, who’s got what, who knows what and I guess who’s on first. Thanks for all the help.

Just a guess, but I imagine the 282 and 287 would be advertised duration.

No other input? Checked both the crane and comp cams lobe profile pages and came up empty handed for the most part.

I see what looks like engraving around the neck of the journal, possibly 'H10' which likely means 110 LSA. What is the rest of the writing?

So my son Chris @TurboGLH and I degreed the cam yesterday and best we can tell it looks like a comp cams camshaft.

Lobe profiles look to be the 5962 intake and the 5984 exhaust. A call to comp on Monday could shed some light here.
