Going to put this lil 340 in the 72 for the Summer. All redone and ready for fun, it came my way yesterday.. So I bit. :)

1973 340 .030 over. TRW forged pistons. 10.75:1cr ported X-Heads and the MP 508 hydralic shaftola. Combine that with M1 4.10 gears and the trusted 833 4-gear. Shold sizzle for an old school build. And the price was right.

Do you have the external balanced 73 340 flywheel. It looks like you will need it. Your balancer looks to be the cast crank one for the 73 engine.

Nope. But i have the MP book which tells you where to remove the 4.2oz to make it work.

Hell yeah! That oughtta rock!

what pistons?
.. sounds nice,10.75 compression and iron heads might require some tuning?

2316 Old schol compared to today.. But I don't care one bit. I want this one the old school ride, and parts. Like it was back in 1987. Just like vibe this build is giving me. As for the tune... I agree its going to take some. I decided I am going to run an Air-Gap that I have on the shelf. Holley 3310 750. The 508 shaft should bleed off some cyl psi.

Airgap is new school! Look for for a strip dominator intake and keep all the old school vibe going!!:steering::thumbsup:

I too love old school fast rides! I currently have a 360 with stock 340 x heads in a 74 dart sport. It has 3.55s in a 8.25. Plan to change out my 280/ 474 cam for a 288/ 497 oval track cam i bought some time ago!:) also will put in a fresh 8.25 with 3.91s just to add to fun factor. Oh of course will top motor with strip intake.
