Is any body using a Magnum SFI Ballancer? If so what brand and model are you using? I am not sure which one to get. Don't want to buy a cheap one and have it come apart on me. Thanks mopar65
If you just mean Magnum balance...your choices are pretty slim. Turboking above is correct. if you mean actual magnum with a serp belt, i believe ATI makes one. I didn't source one from ATI for a reason. i cant remember if it required a spacer for the standard LA timing cover/belt spacing setup. Sometihng weird.
Also march makes crank pullies for the magnums. 10501-08 10509 10511 March Performance - Pulleys - Dodge Magnum 3.9 - 5.2 - 5.9 - Chrysler im using the 10501-08 but im not using the factory brackets, only running a low mount alternator.
Thanks for the info. I am using the factory magnum timing chain cover. Serpentine belt etc. My magnum has the early Blancer with the removable crank pulley. Doing more research today I found one made by PRW. Says it works with LA or magnum engines. Here is a picture of it.
Good find, looks like it has the 3 different weights to cover all small blocks. Comparing the 2 they look identical minus the red ring.
I'm using LA everything that's not magnum specific like intake and heads. The motor's a 1998 5.9 Mopar performance crate 300hp straight from Ma Mopar so it came equipped with LA componants.
Yes...I'm familiar with putting an LA cover on a magnum... do it daily. my worry for @mopar65 is that if that damper is merely an LA damper, with multiple weight selections, he will have spacing issues getting magnum pulleys to work on an actual magnum cover.
That's a good point. I wouldn't be able to help there. It didn't require a spacer on my engine, which did come with an original magnum damper.
1st pic. Stock 1 pc mag, stock 2pc mag, 90012 w/ 10501-08 pulley 2nd pic. Same 3rd pic. Mag 2pc w/o pulley, 90012 w/o pulley 4th pic. Mag 1pc, 90012 w/ stock 2pc mag pulley.
Well I got the PRW Balancer for my 5.9 magnum engine today. I orderd it through summit racing and looks like I might be sending it back. One of the extra balance weights came loose inside the box and most of the powder coat. On the back side of the Blancer is gone. And some of the coating on the outside edge has been Rubed off. Which sucks for me I was really wanting to put it on my engine this weekend
Well that’s not good. The weights should have been secure in the foam. I blame shoddy shipping when’s that kind of thing happens.
