How do you remove the springs for a '63 Dart manual convertible top without killing yourself?

Never have attempted that procedure, but maybe it is the same as removing the brawny clutch pedal spring.

Open or close the top, so the spring is pulled open.
Stick pennies in the spring, while it is open.
Close or open the top, so the spring compresses, on the pennies.
Remove spring.

Wow, way cool trick!

If it works, leave the penny's in to replace.
Let us know if it works.

I put 5 1/4" bolts the spring in and when I raised the top straight up the springs just unhooked by themselves. I needed no where near 5 to get it unhooked but I have some insurance if one of them pops out :)
