Manual front disc brake master cylinder?

Replacing the master cylinder on my 66 Barracuda. Formula S car with KH front discs, drums in the rear. I have read that a 15/16" bore master cylinder with a larger disc reservoir and smaller drum reservoir would be more ideal for non-power brakes. I purchased a Raybestos MC36406. My brake pedal push rod is too small for the piston on this MC, I'm guessing because it is meant for power brake applications? Looking for recommendations/links to master cylinders that will work for my manual brake application, or general advice as to what the best course of action would be.

Are you saying the pushrod is too small to go into the hole in the piston?

Or the pushrod does not stay in the piston?

There should be a rubber keeper in the piston that the pushrod engages to to keep the pushrod from coming out too easily

I bought an adjustable brake push rod. I think it was from DR Diff. Google it

I'm guessing because it is meant for power brake applications

Power brakes use a completely different pushrods

Yes, the piston on the new MC looks like it’s designed for a larger diameter pushrod. Closer to .500.” Mine just swims in it

I would have no problem using the .367od pushrod in the cup of the 15/16" piston as long as the keeper keeps the rod in the master cyl

I'm using the same master in my 65 Dart with Kelsey Hayes front disc brakes.
Also manual brakes, pushrod fit good.
What is the protrusion on the back side the master in your picture?
Not at home, could measure pushrod O.d later.

I figured it out. The push rod grommet was stuck inside the old master cylinder. I got everything installed.

For the later model masters that doesn't have the 2 holes for the master cyl piston dust cover retainer there is a gasket.
