I am building my fuel system for my 408. It is a stout build: aluminum CNC220 heads, forged bottom end, @50 .251 in and .259 ex with 608 and 625 lift solid flat cam. Worked Edelbrock Airgap intake and a Thumper Carb.

Question is, how much will a mechanical fuel pump support?

Thank you in advance!

Mechanical fuel pumps were used on all the performance cars Mopar built up into the 80's when fuel injection took over. Dual quads and 6 Packs got fed with mechanical;s. Well over 1000 cfm.

You can run the engine off the mechanical pump IF you have a big enough pump, like the big Carter, or better yet a Clay Smith fuel pump AND you have the fuel line to support the power you are making.

You need a 1/2 inch pickup in the tank and 1/2 fuel line all the way to the regulator.

The Clay Smith pump is bad assed, but it comes with a bad assed price tag too. But it works.
