LA Mopar Oil Pans Chrysler 318, 340, and 360 Engines

Had been suggested to run a deep oil pan i.e the 30940, and what I have noticed this is the most common used.

Any of you are running the 30941 shorter version? This one is capable of holding 3 extra oil quarts vs the 4 extra quarts of the 30940, while keeping a low profile.

I was running a stock height pan, and a bit concerned for ground clearance.

Any pics on how is the ground clearance on your set up?

You might want to look at kevco also, great pans for a lot less money.. i'm going with their stock appearing pan with baffles..

Although this one... might be the ticket

I used the 8 qt. pan in my Dart Sport and got by with 5 qts but would recommend 6+. You have to be careful with speed bumps & potholes or if there is a drop-off from the edge of the asphalt on a return road. Had a bad experience with a Moroso 8 qt. plus it had the drain plug on the bottom instead of the side!

If the engine is still in the car. you can measure the additional depth compared to the OEM pan.
Summit may offer the best price.

Two issues with the Milodon 8 qt. is that there are some headers that will not fit. They hit the rear/side passenger side of the flared sump. TTI, Dougs and I believe one of the Hooker part numbers will fit.

On the 8 qt. you will also need to cut a "V" into the lip of the K-member to clear the passenger side front corner of the flared sump. Necessary for easier engine removal & replacement.

The 7 qt Milodon may be compatible with other headers. Photos show that the area has been redesigned but I suggest you do some research. I never tried that one.

This is a pic when the engine is installed on jack stands. I am running a custom made belly pan, which could be ease modified

I have been looking for online info. And apparently the Kevco oil pan is higher recommended due to the baffling systems and trap doors. Which are suit for hard drag launches. I am pulling 1.30 60ft times.

We run 1.3 @ 60 all day long in our small block stockers and
no problem at all even with the claimer stock appearing pan
that they sell!

Are you using the windage tray included without any mods on the strokers? Mine will be a 408
