Modifications to Offenhauser 1 1/2 carb spacer Thermoquad to Holley pattern ?

-
Brooks, what you have there is a spread bore spacer, what you need is an adapter.
When I was a machinist I made lots of stuff work that may not have been "right", but that is too far from right for me. Just get the right adapter. That spacer simply won't work.

I want vintage parts, its part of the theme of my Dart, Offenhauser is a Good as it gets
Vintage parts is the theme of your Dart? So then, how does that chinkesium knock air gap fit into that theme? Askin for a friend.

The economical price of a decently priced magnum. Intake doesnt exist. I bought it 11 yrs ago before the options increased. Im going to run this motor for a while but have
A 400 BB. Block to stroke to 500, that i will put a 62' 413 factory dual quad set up in. I already have the carbs, so this will work for now.
Vintage stuff now.

Edelbrock
Moroso
Accel
Thermoquads/Holley
Vintage Direct Connection Sticker
Super Bee Emblem
B and M Pro Shifter
Dougs Headers
MP Dizzy
MSD6AL
MP Remote oil filter kit
Crane Cam
80 amp squareback alternator
Champion plugs
1966 UH1H (Iriquois) "Huey" Helicopter Cyclic grip for a shifter handle, one BUTTON fir flame thrower (gas and potassium mix for purple flames), one for trans brake, one undecided
B and M torque converter
Braided covers rad hose, vacuum advance hose, fuel line, wiring etc
Custom brushed stainless. Or chrome dash
20. Gauges incl, the usual , plus a/f ratio, trans pressure ,clock, speedo, oil temp, trans temp, water pressure, axle temp, trans temp. It will look like an aircraft dash
Etc etc
For now Stock rally 14's,
BF Goodrich TA radials, Cragar Ss Chrome soon
Pioneer Stereo
w/ reverb
*** , Gas. Or Grass, Nobody Rides for free sticker
I have an actual 1970 Fl tag I will be pressing into service
Of course a 6pk is quintessential 60's
And more. I have been planning this for years.

Thanks, Ive got one, I had'nt thought about it.
Theres some shots of the adapter you suggested. Minimal grinding. I will have to get a divider bar welded into it to keep the intake dual plane. The next to the laster pic shows the fit best .
Thank you for your suggestion.

I would also think since you're going for the vintage look, that you'd run one of the many Holley 4150 or 4160 carburetors you've sold. Nothing, but nothing looks more vintage. Just an observation.

"Keeping the intake dual plane" or not will have little to no effect on operation. But hay your circus your monkeys. Have fun!

TQs we’re never run as 2 separate halves on a Mopar. They always had the thick 3/8s open gasket under them. Mopar even had a kit of 4 thick gaskets to tune the carb to the engine. If u do anything with that spacer I suggest to make it totally open. I have been using TQs since the late 70s. Kim

Both the spacer and the adapter you have shown are for a Quadrajet. Hold either up to the base of your TQ and you will see that you will most likely have a vacuum leak in the back, as they do not have enough surface to seal.

I would find a new mother......

Seriously, your best bet is get a 3/4-1" thick piece of alum & make your own spacer/adapter to suit that intake. I have done this myself. You will probably lose a little air flow, but may not be a problem depending on the combo.

Yes , agree, Im going to open it totally, no holes.. i mocked it up with the adapter and it Looks as if it will work well.

Heres the solution:
Im doing what Kim suggested, everything inside the purple box will be machined out.
You can see from the pics that it will be wide open. Possibly some dremel work.
The line down the middle of the box will
Where a small u shaped channel will be fabricated (on the ends of the north and south) to use adjustable sized fabbed plates of various sizes to experiment with the plenum divider.
The nitrous plates (adjustable) wont interefere, now Im going to use 75 jets x 2 for a 150 shot, The 400 to 500 stroker I will use 150 jets x2 for 300 hp

Pardon my French but that will be a fuel distribution **** show. Putting the hose to that setup will make it a full fledged disaster. I see nothing good with any of that, and the nitrous will exacerbate everything by an order of magnitude. Just my opinion but at some point you should consider the intake manifold you picked is hardly vintage, and vintage is in the eye of the beholder.

Bingo! Brooks if you want a tunnel ram, buy one. Or a air gap if you want something shorter. The only thing you are going to gain with that Mickey Mouse combination you have is a big headache.

For what it’s worth, the intake manifold you have for sale is a much better choice for what you are doing than what you are trying to use. Again, not trying to pee in your cereal this morning, I just hate to see the the results with where you are headed.

The manifold that is sold is LA, no holes for magnum, must drill the magnum heads

I an having big big fun experimenting with this.
Many inventors have been told its not. Possible to make their invention work.
I read where some man of notiriety said in 1900 that everything that could ever. be invented, had already been invented
Edison made 1000 attempts at a filaments for the light bulb, his attempts were sub par compared the the lumens a modern light bulb. Somebidy else used tungsten, (which he never thought of) Which suprises me.Tungstens melting point was established before he set out on the bulb. He invented the concept for the light bulb, someone else finished it.
. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
If at first you dont suceed, try, try again
The true test will be when I take it to the track.
The best advise ever given to me was
"Dont ever give up "

your car, your fun.....but if this thing doesn't survive the 150 shot please post the pics

A smart man makes a mistake, learns from it, and never makes that mistake again. But a wise man finds a smart man and learns from him how to avoid the mistake altogether.

I knew this was gonna be good. That's why I waited until this morning to read it. I think mother invented a template to drill an la manifold to fit the magnums. Having fun and doing YOUR thing is what it's all about but if your want to be different, expect the flack.

What I will be posting is pics of my Dart shredding the tires as Im going past your house !

Seriously, Ive researched nitrous extensively.

MSD 8680 advance/retard module dash controlled plus/minus 7 1/2 degrees. 150 hp, 2 degrees per 50 hp= 6 degrees retarded

Have 3 different types heat ranges plugs, non projected tip, do a pass immediately check the plugs, and change heat range if necessary

Nitrous shut off valve in case fuel pressure drops

Carb activation switch to allow only. wide open throttle nitrous activation

There is more......

The Germans and Us Sucessfully used nitrous on high altitude aircraft. No big deal
