I'm looking for recommendations for replacement molded carpet for one off my 1970 Darts. I have one that has 50 years and 85,000 miles on original factory carpets and one that has 5 years and 10,000 miles on replacement loop carpet. The original looks to be in remarkable shape and the replacement is showing wear - as in wear areas where the loop looks more like cut pile! Can anybody recommend carpet that will stand the test of time??? Thanks for your time and attention!

I do not have an answer, just that I bought ACC carpet for my Charger two yrs ago, and noted the other day that the wear by the gas pedal is noticeable. This is the mfg's issue. Maybe the identical materials are no longer available, likely.

All of the carpet kits are now coming from Auto Custom Carpets, ACC. The carpet is produced in Dalton, GA. and molded in Anniston, AL. They are the only company that is now producing the molded factory style carpet kits.

if you buy legendary you will be buying ACC carpet.(the only difference is your paying more for the same product and more shipping)
ACC has bought out 95% of of the molded carpet companies, the only ones they have not bought out is the cut and sewn makers (I work for one of those guys.) there are 2 levels of loops and 3 levels of cut pile carpet that you can get from ACC. the normal levels that all you guys see for 120-200 is the "entry or really cheap ones" mid level better(cut pile or loop) and eldorado(cutpile) is best thickest and more fibers per ounce. but doesn't even come close to looking stock, mass backing make it even better, (but the heelpad sucks on every level it's just cheap plastic and not the resin poured or injection molded rubber) THIS is a good heelpad (custom poured be "yours truly") going on this sewn in set and color matched to the carpet. and it's a medium level carpet not the best level nylon loop for durability 330.jpg 20180222_172044.jpg

Is there a way to order carpet from ACC with the better level of loop carpet? What do you ask for? Can you specify the better material if you go to a middleman like Legendary? Can you (66vert) provide a better heel pad that we could use to replace the crappy one?

Right now what is saving me in the heel pad department is the factory floor mats that Legendary sells. In the 1980s I bought a 70 Dart with the factory floor mats in it and when they started wearing around 1999, I took the originals to Legendary and they started repoping them with their own pattern for the back (the originals were different, had a pentastar, smaller spikes, and instructions of where to cut for console cars), but the top if very correct with a hellacious thick rubber heel pad.

yes you can, but it's going to have to be over the phone. Also with the weavers being down for corona virus hits you might not be able to get the color you want or have to wait for it. I know they have dark blue, no lighter blue. no reds and no greens of any type yet (Dalton weavers are getting back into production though so they might get some stock in). They (ACC) don't have an option anymore for the upgraded carpet online. But Call and just ask the sales person which one has more fibers per ounce Nylon is more durable but does fade even if it is not in direct sunlight worse than rayon/nylon loop though, so it's sort of "do I want longer color or longer life choice" (it'll be either the 500 series or 600 series for loop, I always get confused on that one) and the extra plush for the cut pile. your going to get a crappy heel pad either way you go though so keep your floor mats

Just shop for the best price plus shipping. As said above, all the same stuff. That was Rock auto when I bought the last one. Get the mass backing. I think it is worth it.

It is at best all ACC, but not all ACC vendors carry the same quality version. They vary!

Go to the ACC website and view the different views of the three different styles of carpeting that is available from ACC. Once you get an ideal of which would work best for you, give them a call and ask them to send you a swatch of the material in the desired colors or material. We have done that for a number of our customers so that they can get the best match possible as it seems that the blues differ significantly from the different model years.

If your original carpeting was black, it is pretty easy. Several years ago, the ACC black carpet was having an issue turning a dark purplish tint after being exposed to the sun. That problem has seemed to have been resolved with the carpet manufacturer.

If your intent in replacing the carpet is to maintain the factory OE look, then you will be locked in to using the 80/20 loop. If your ok with using the more modern style materials, then you will have the option to use either the cutpile or essex materials. Expect to pay around $70 to $100 more for the essex material, depending upon the vendor that you choose. All three materials use the same molds to produce the finished product.

The ECS carpet is the 80/20 loop from ACC.

I kept and still have samples of headliner, carpet and more that were covered and or hidden and never saw the light of day. Much you find may not be correct. I purchased from Pro-Fit and they questioned my choices as it did not match their database. They were ultimately wrong but sold to me at really good prices! Do the research.

ACC is about the only one in the business. Call them them and talk about what you want... They can accomodate you.

you can use the 100% nylon loop also in place of the 80/20 loop(oh and the black still fades to purplish, the blues still fade to beige and the greens still go yellow on ALL the fibers types). regular cut pile and essex isn't quite as bad as loop but if you even roll the remnants up the edges still discolor after 6 months. We order(well we did ,but you can only buy 1 yard of cut yardage right now due to the virus and 1 yard won't make a cut and sewn set need 4 yards for each year we do and 5 for the 66-9 cars) exclusively from ACC for our yardage and have seen this happen for about 5 years now , We go through about 100 yards (40 sets) of carpet a month during the winter and about 40 yards a month (10 lincoln 61-69 carpet sets) now we wait and go directly to the georgia factory and buy a roll of one color at a a time. last trip was 5 rolls of black, dark blue cut pile and 7766 blue loop. still no reds, browns or greens available yet.
