I was always wanting a copy of the later model A's glove box liner. I knew that originally we (63-66) A owners had a molded glove box liner but it was made from paper! that sucks, since I live in Florida where paper and moisture sort of don't mix too well. So here is my latest attempt for a remedy. It's not perfect yet (overheated the plastic and got bubbles in it, miss-located a hole and had little bit of webbing to work with and a bitch of a time getting it off the mold) but hey it FITS and won't fall apart!
old one and a test new one

    going in

in this pic you can see the hole I missed on (right upper screw dang it 1/8th off) and the small web on the same side lower corner. but it fits, works and WON'T fall apart in moist weather.

I am happy with it as a good part right now. But I'll continue to fix the webbing issues since I am going in the right direction finally :) instead of just burning up plastic!

Wow, I'm impressed. That's a really nice job. Now that you have the mold ;-)

There is definitely a market for those. I have accumulated a few good paper ones over the years but the plastic is far more practical in actual use.

Thanks I need to make 2 for my darts and since I'll have 6 more squares cut out I'll probably make 6 more as extras. hopefully getting better and better results

yeah got the mold (was a major B@#$@$ to get right had to smooth out a few things and make the hole location deeper to show) now to see if I can repeat my success ! My Wife says I'm a glutton for punishment since I'm going for a GT style with the Lock slot and light next.

Same one I use to make my speaker kick panels for the early A's

what is weird is the Kick panels and the top side panel trim pieces for the convertibles was soooooo much easier to make than the darn glovebox.
These top side panel pieces came out great in shape and size. A little bit thin so I'm going to the .090 instear of the .060 plastic
      DSCF4515.JPG

I had major webbing and blow out issues with the glove box. Trouble getting the mold off of the part and about every other process. The other parts worked like a charm without any problems (other than operator error)

I am sorry. But I love the kick panels 10 times more. I live in Maryland but spring breaking it with my boys at crescent beach Fl. Right now. Don't get me wrong the glove box is very cool, but kick panels are amazing.

thanks. they took a bit of figuring out to get them right but once the basic shape was right everything just sort of fell into place.

my new prototype of the kick panels are full grill

and in the flesh so to speak.
          20170403_165509.jpg

the hole pattern only gets drilled after it's made and being cut out. I'm working on getting a smaller amount of holes in it since it looks flimsy with that many holes and in danger of being kicked and broken

            Sure ya are.
I couldn't have done the LED light without your expert help, I was totally lost since I knew what I wanted but didn't know how to get there. Truth be told I had help from a LOT of people to get the things done that I wanted to. Without all of yours and their help I'd still have a rust bucket! I figured that since nobody made these parts and I just MIGHT figure out how to do them(and make new "toys" to play with like the vacuform and home built CNC) then I'd go for it. Plus it just might help other in need of the same type of parts!

                  yep,
they are custom ordered, you order I make:).

I need a couple more runs on the glove box to make sure I can actually repeat my success in making the glove box liners.

right now I have the slimline version kick panel molds made and ready to make. They go for 90+ shipping (usually 15.00)
they are about 1.95 deep and can fit these speakers or any that are that size. I would suggest adding a piece of thin sound material or tape right behind the magnet to stop any vibration or contact once it's installed and yes it clears the fresh air door.

the depth of the speaker MAX!

the Grilled version will be coming along soon(one side is done but not tested) and will take a slightly deeper speaker. moved closer to the fresh air door.

I like the open version i mounted my fuse box on the upper right of the kick panel so i would need to trim to fit either way. Ill keep you in mind gotta seal my window leak before i get anything else for the interior.

Will do, I was checking out my symptoms of the plastic online and discovered I had kept the plastic out in the open too long and it was wet or hygrophobic and sucked moisture from the air! now I have to make a plastic sheet dryer to clear up that problem. %@%$#$% . But I get to make a new toy so all is good. but it will take me a bit to make the new toy.

I have thought of trying the glovebox mold but don't have the tools. I too love the shape of the paper molded ones but I want one of your plastic ones. Can I get one for my 65 Valiant andhow much? Thanks.

your really don't want any from this run, time wise or money wise they cost a lot to get this far (3 sheets of plastic just getting it to mold correctly with just a bit of webbing makes the one in the picture cost me over 240.00 to make a good one)

now that I am getting closer, I'm starting from zero to actually calculate the cost of making a run and will have a better idea of cost.

Give me a bit to figure out exactly how much I have into the glove box.(time and materials, I'm going down to pick up some plastic next Monday) I just got told by my plastic supplier the the pricing went up a few bucks so that's gonna reflect on my total cost of the next run of glove box liners and kick panels

I would love to stay in touch. I have asked thermoformer companies for a quote to do what you're doing and they're not very excited. Maybe it's just me but I spend for my car to make it better in any way. Granted a $250 box is a lot but I'd go $100 for a plastic one that has the original rounded shape. I have bout the cardboard replacements and won't put them in. So keep up the research and let me know when I can place an order. Great idea and product.
