This is a great story! The radio station America FM
was doing one of its 'Is Anyone Listening?' bits
this morning. The first question was, 'Ever have a
celebrity come up with the 'Do you know who I am?'
    routine?'

A woman called in and said that a few years ago,
while visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings , MT ,
she had occasion to go to dinner at a restaurant that does
not take reservations. The wait was about 45 minutes; many
ranchers and their wives were waiting.

Ted Turner and his ex-wife Jane Fonda came in the
restaurant and wanted a table. The hostess informed them
that they'd have to wait 45 minutes.

    Jane Fonda asked
the hostess, 'Do you know who I am?' The hostess
answered, 'Yes, but you'll have to wait 45 minutes.'

Then Jane asked if the manager was in. When
the manager came out, he asked, 'May I help you?'
'Do you know who we are?' both Ted and Jane asked.
Yes, but these folks have been waiting, and I can't
    put you ahead of them.'

Then Ted asked to speak to the owner. The owner came
out, and Jane again asked, 'Do you know who I am?'
The owner answered, 'Yes, I do. Do you know who I am?
I am the owner of this restaurant and I am a Vietnam
Veteran. Not only will you not get a table ahead of my
friends and neighbors who have been waiting here, but you
also will not be eating in my restaurant tonight or any
    other night. Good bye.'

Only in America, is this a great country or what?

To all who received this, this is a true story and
the name of the steak house is:

    Sir Scott's Oasis Steakhouse, 204 W. Main ,
    Manhattan , MT 59741 , (406) 284-6929

If you ever get there, give this fellow a sharp
salute, buy a steak, and tip the waitress.

We should never forget Jane Fonda, our national traitor!

That's a true story, it's been around for a while. The part I have a hard time believing is that a lady visiting her uncle drove 165 miles one-way to eat at that restaurant.

That restaurant was featured in one of those 'Beef, it's what's for dinner, " ad campaigns several years back, so who knows?

So many celebrities get hung up on themselves and think they're entitled to special priviledges.
Some years ago my wife and I were in Lawrence, KS, on a recruiting trip (our daughter was on her official visit to KU for softball). We were one of the local restaurants standing in the lobby waiting for a table with the softball team head coach and his wife when the coach suddenly says, "Here's someone I want to introduce you to."
In walks Roy Williams, the head coach of the KU men's basketball team (Roy's now head coach at North Carolina). After the introductions, Roy waits for his wife to arrive and, since the restaurant's waiting area is fairly crowded, proceeds to act as 'doorman' opening and closing the entry door for all who are either arriving or leaving.
Now, Roy was/is nationally known as the coach at KU and North Carolina but was just a regular guy at the restaurant. I tried to imagine a big-name coach in Los Angeles doing the same and just couldn't picture it.

I lived in Manhattan, MT for 7 years and ate at the Oasis many, many times. Don't know how true this story is but according Snopes it is false. What I do know is that they do take reservations ... and that you should not bother eating there unless you like meat!

The best steak I've ever had was there. And I've traveled all over. I'm with you on the validity of the story, but I'm going to go with 100% on that it COULD have happened.

haha ... no doubt it could have happened ... there are lots of places here in Montana that I can see the owner doing that.

As far as the steaks go ... I think I need to head back over the hill for another visit. I remember my buddy polishing of a 28oz porterhouse and then finishing his girlfreind's prime rib one night. Not for vegetarians

Two friends and I drove from S.A. to Houston and met 2 more friends for dinner last summer. Now granted we were "road testing" the ATI kit he/we installed in his Hemi Charger two days prior but we still drove almost 400 miles round trip.
