I was 3 for 3 in removing whole exhaust studs from 2 LA heads dated 1963! '64 heads...one was already removed so maybe I was 4 for 4! Slow and lubed using a new 16" pipe wrench with nice and sharp jaws. Now I'm gonna have to buy a $2 scratcher today......Ever have something really go your way on an old motor?

Good for you now run out and buy a Lottery ticket!

Exhaust studs, the ultimate challenge. Last week I removed 10 from a set of 452 heads. Two came out with the manifolds because of lube from a valve cover oil leak.

Propane torch, lube, and the double nut technique.
