Ive been searching for valve covers after a member posted a one off set with only the Mopar M in the center. These finally popped up, Proform is calling these a new design. Definitely new to me, I like em.

I’ve had really good luck with Proform parts. Seems to be quality stuff.

The point is sharing the look of new valve cover. I figured if im looking for something new and unique that I think fits my build there's gotta be other guys doing the same.

They look nice, I'll give you that.

              But...

From experience, over and over, I will never run china popped chrome valve covers, or any chrome valve covers for that matter. Leaks waiting to happen. The design of our valve covers is poor to begin with.

I will only run cast or machined/welded aluminum covers. They are the only ones I find to seal really well and consistently and repeatedly.

well, its cool to see some aftermarket support for our LA engines
BUT, i still think it will be hard to beat the classic look of finned valve covers
specially if you have Leanna, work em over

OK, so stay away from stamped steel from Proform, is that what I'm hearing?

did anyone else think they could have put a little more thought into their part numbers?

Those are stunningly beautiful. I had ribbed on another build and was wanting a quality chrome steel look for this build. Suggestions?

I like the blue trimmed ones. I didn't look. How much? They will probably leak. The metal gauge is never thick enough to get a good seal.

with enough elbow grease cast aluminum can be polished to close to a mirror shine

Those are really nice. I have a set of custom aluminum covers but not really into them. For what it's worth I spoke to Proform, The Mopar covers are made "overseas", the guy said they are thicker and meet a higher standard in order to pass for a registered Mopar product. That's what the guy said don't shoot the messenger! Mancini and many other places are moving lots of these so if there's a fear, be careful where you buy. For me, I'll probably get a set and find out the hard way if they are "thicker" or not. Not gonna lie to you guys, I'm very visual, and particular about the look and feel (pretty evident on what I've taken on for the 68 Notch) of just about everything, especially on my vehicles. Jesus I'm getting windy about valve covers....OK lets close this up, so since this is an easily replaced part, I'm going with some risk and looks first. If this were motor, transmission, Diff...no, looks are secondary

Leanna (Mistress of Metal) posted something about the after market overseas valve covers leaking around the welds. I couldn't find it, but I'm sure someone here will.

For what it's worth, I run a proform carb and it's served me well. I've even run it back to back with an actual holley 4150hp which is what it's modeled after and it was head to head the same

Actually what I said was all but one set that crossed my bench (out of 10-12 sets) had light showing through the welds. Leaks are presumed.

Thanks to those with the kind compliments on my MPs up there. :D
