My Dart Swinger Project!

Ok gotta quick question. I got it torn down everything except one side i cannot get the pistons out. Im assuming the rings are catching on the groove at the top of the cylinder walls. Whats the best method to get them out? I tapped on them with a hammer and a wooden rod you can hear it when it bottoms outs. I took one out the bottom side and was just gonna take the rings off and push it back thru but then I noticed the middle ones i can't do that with them. So im stuck for now.

Progress! Cool. Took a lot of PB Blaster to get my rings loosened up enough to compress and slide the pistons on out. Rings probably stuck in the pistons.

Yea soaked them in Kroll before i started i may try it again tomorrow and soak them more.

The ridge reamer will let them slide right out, I just used the same tool a couple of weeks ago on a 318.

I got a couple more photos of the original paint on the hood without the sun glare its not much better but you can see it

I don't know if you've ever used one before or not but do not remove too much metal from the top of the cylinder. Those Cutters can cut past what's your cylinder bore already is.

All the tools i have bought for this project im gonna start renting them out on here make some of my money back lol

This is after a 120 grit tootsie roll. I have to get some of the small dia tootsies rolls to get the corners better. It starting to take shape.

Also it is not necessary to remove all the ridge, the cutter will not trim 100% square to the bore, stop when there is little to no ridge at any spot.

Well i got two done in about 3 hours lol this is gonna take a while haha. Now I know why they charge so much. Lmao!

Looking better as you go. Are you using a dremel? If so, get a buffer. They are at Walmart or anyplace else that sells that stuff. Don't buff the intake, only the exhaust. Take your time, and remember, you are thinking "exit on the exhaust" or air being FORCED out in a hurry. On the intake, remember it's inhaling from the head of the valve.
