Hi , i live in oregon and just got my first A body mopar. A 1966 valiant signet convertible that has barracuda badging. It has a 318 and automatic. Original 273 car. Has small bolt pattern wheels. I want to upgrade to front disc brakes , add sway bars , new shocks , replace suspension bushings , and improve cooling system. It has a champion aluminum radiator with stock steel fan and no shroud. Should i replace steel fan? Add shroud? Sources for shroud? Any suggestions on making improvements to this car would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's a sharp ride. It's not too uncommon to covert the Valiant cars to Barracuda trim packages. We have seen it done numerous times and even Barracudas switched to Valiant trim. If the 318 likes the current cooling system I would leave it alone. I would expect it to be OK in Oregon. Welcome to the forum. Please post some more pictures of your convert when you can. We are all childish and love pictures...LOL

Are you having overheating issues with the current fan?

Yes , overheating when moving slow. Has a 6 blade steel fan and a champion aluminum radiator. Needs a shroud. Any idea where i can find a shroud?

i don't think there's any support for OEM shrouds on that type of champion radiator.

most all of those are sold with the idea that you're going to run electric with an integrated shroud or something aftermarket.

if that does have holes on the side rails for mounting post up the measurements and maybe we can find something that'll fit

So your your choices are fabricate something, or change radiators.
Fabricate could be the cheaper more immediate fix.
It depends on what there is to attach the shroud to on the Champion radiator.
See if Champion has a kit. Here's a customized shroud

Good news is the engine has the pre-1970 water pump which means a factory 273 radiator, or copy thereof, will work.
