I have an abody 4speed, with an 83/4 rear. .now it previously had a 727 in it with dame rear. . .soo what drive shaft can be used??? I have the large out put in the 4 speed so can I put that to a 904 shaft. And have the correct length?? Can get one from a 68 cuda that had 904 and 83/4 but want to be sure it will work before I purchase thanks

Pull a drive line out of a b/c body and have it shortened.

727 & 904 yokes are different.

The reason I say get one out of a bigger car is cause it will have the lager sturdier 7290 u joint.

7 1/4 uses a longer drive line than a 8 3/4 given the same trans/wheel base

you have a a833 4 speed 8 3/4 and you want to buy a 904 shaft and have it cut down to work?

Well I was going to use the yoke from my 727 shaft and put it on the 904 shaft.. also i replaced the u joint with a bigger one already IIRC. This was last year so not too sure. . .but if that's the case.can't I just get my original shaft shortened that I was? using with the 727 and 8 3/4?? Also how much would need to be cut?

You had a 727 in the car and you swapped it out for a 4 speed? The output shaft of your a833 4 speed takes the same slip yoke as your 727? You bought a 904 shaft because it is longer and you would like to cut it to length? What is the measurement from your tailshaft housing to the top of the rear yoke.

if it's an abody 4spd the shaft is already too short, i would guess.

and there were only aftermarket large u joint 904 yokes as far as I know..but I don't everything.

otherwise you would use the combo u joint.

If you want the small joint, use the yoke you have.

I assume the yoke you have off that 727 is a 7260, but you haven't been very clear..

The 904 with the 8 3/4 driveshaft should be the right length if you have a A/F body 4 speed. You already know you need the large slip yoke. What U-joint is in the rear? The trick is the U-Joint. Large or small? Measure that and go from there.
