been awhile since i have posted but i finally got smart :)

i wanted a nice strip/street combo in my dart.
dart super stock springs moved inboard.
8 point cage and frame ties
glass fenders. it is pretty much stock other than that.

my first combo was a little too much on the street.
i built an 11.5.1 @.30 over 440
.525/.525 comp solid cam
fully ported 915 heads with the big valves
eddy performer rpm
intake with a 750 holly on it.
553hp@6000 was the number

manual 727 with a 3500 converter and 4.30 gears on a 28 inch tall tire.

ok... this was a wicked race motor ! but street driving was a nightmare.

so i deiceded to step back a little.......
i have now have a .30 over 440
with 10.5.1 pistons
the same 915 heads
the same intake and carb
i went to the.484/.484 hyd cam.
same trans and converter is now 2800 to 3000 stall
went to a 3.91 gear with a 26 inch tire.
this is a much nicer streetcombo and it runs like stink at the track.

the hp @6000 is 516 and the t is 452@6000
the power is down a little but the power curve is real consistant and
@6500 it peaks at 529hp @ 5000 makes 567fpt
the trade was a little hp but it was worth the trouble.

i shift it @6000 and run through the traps at 6000.
it pulls real nice all the way.

i plan to spray it with a 100hp shot of NOS later this year just for heck of it.

im still tuning but i have managed 11.50's through the mufflers there is much more in it and ill find it :) i want to get my best ET befor i try the spray.

but over all is is a super nice street set and the most bang for the buck at the track. i am very pleased with the outcome. the biggest part is that i would of saved a ton of cash if i would of just thought of what i wanted and went 2 sizes smaller on everything the first time :)

Nice job. That's why I always have to say "what do you REALLY want? and BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF." I still debate with customers over the "I want this size cam" and me saying "why? It's way overkill, and your brakes wont work. Now your heads cant support it. It's another $1K..."
