Only problem is that you cannot just go to watch. Each driver is allowed additional one person but everyone is supposed to stay in the car, social distance, blah blah. Even though my "new" car isn't quite finished, I cannot imagine sitting there cooking away in the afternoon sun (with no AC)!
You don’t have to stay in the car. All you have to do is wear a mask the whole time. You have to enter a car in order to be there or be a crew member. You can have one crew member with you if you entered a car. I’ve gone twice this year and it’s been pretty good
This thread has been quite so just making some noise. I have been working on changing the speedometer cable on my car which is drama cause of sourcing the correct one. Still working on it as of now... need to pull the upper of the two piece cable from the speedo gage. Then i'll see where i stand. Also, changing my neutral safety switch since I saw that it some how got disconnected and started melting against the exhaust. I also noticed that wire connecting to the starter relay ran not only from the trans/NSS but also to bulk head terminal where the reverse lights should be connected. turning into a bigger project than i was expecting. What's everyone else been up too?
Engine and tranny out of my ‘70 Swinger. I’ve been prepping the engine bay for paint. Engine is done but still have to reassemble the tranny too. I’m replacing the pigtail to my NSS as well. I had a tranny leak and the rubber boot around the terminals is pretty much crap. New switch too. Sometimes I’d have to shift in and out of park a couple times to start the engine. These projects always snowball don’t they? Figure while I’m in the neighborhood I’d replace the fifty year old positive battery cable. The insulation down near the starter was pretty stiff and cracking. It wasn’t contacting any grounds but why take a chance. Bought a reproduction from Classic Industries. Looks exact. Hopefully the lasting quality is as good as it looks. Good luck on that speedo cable. Uff dah! They’re not impossible but there’s a ton of things I’d much rather do than that.
Our big local show has been cancelled for the second year. Coincidence that the only time I’ve missed was last year with a broken motor. I was thinking I’d have her running for it this year but now the pressure is off a little.
Been working on the Barracuda convertible. Need to take it to my buddy's shop to get the trunk drops and quarter patches installed. Maybe next week. It runs like crap right now which I suspect to be sticking valves. Heads will come back off after the body work as I am also working another, even bigger project. A second two-car garage attached to the side of my house which will also include RV parking (no RV yet, but need to have room for it). The first pic came down. The new garage will be 19'9" x 20' (maybe 21') with an additional 14' x 5' or 6' addition on the right side. Lots of work still to do, but the tear down is complete. Now to do some cleanup and get some plans drawn up. The carport on the right side of the original garage will also be coming down after the new garage is built. Pulled some money out of the house with a refi and the payment only went up $28...Also gonna do dual pane windows (already ordered), stucco work, and kitchen remodel...
Picked up this rust bucket on Friday for a steal. Gonna just bomb it around as is. Didn't run worth a crud because the company who rebuilt the carb never cleaned out the idle well in the Holley 1920 and the idle emulsion tube was clogged. Runs like a clock after 10 minutes of work.
I’ll attend a few to look up friends and spectate for sure. I’m not sure if my Dart will be completed by then. I’ll finish cleaning up and priming the engine bay this weekend. Plan to paint it next weekend. The engine is done. The tranny is still in pieces on the bench and in totes. I have everything I need with the exception of time. I’m hoping to have her done but not counting on it. Will you be up here at all?
I’m looking to head up for the one on the 17th. Thought there was one in Anderson a little earlier in the day but I don’t see that one on the list anymore. Will be a long day and great reliability run for the Jalopy.
Thanks! I was talking with the owner since November. No one wanted it because of the rust and he didn't like my offers. I kept at it and traded an old scooter for it. Oh yeah, I definately will be cruising it around. I think I'll keep it very much like it is. Will have a wet trunk during winter tho. Haha.
That seems like a worthy project. We have been ‘fantasy shopping’ on the internet for houses with a 2-car garage (my priority, not my wife's)...
