Hi all found this site by accident but glad I did. I first opened it on the thread for the SS/A B029 cars as I had one of the original cars. Raced it for five years around the Salt Lake City area and then sold it, racing against the factory sponsored cars got to expensive.
Also owned a 1967 GTX Hemi car made it into street, race car traded it for a 68 GTX Hemi traded that one for the Hemi Barracuda race car.
Later in the 80's got into building Allison V-1710 WWII aircraft engines for tractor pulling and Unlimited Hydroplane boats.
Moved to California and went to work for Hasselgren Racing Engines in 1990 building Toyota Formula Atlantic race engines plus Some vintage Ferrari and Alfa Romeo F1 V-12 engines and various other race engines retired in 2014.
Also a Military Vet Vietnam era Army and later USNR 17yrs Retired 2003, aircraft electrician in Navy.

Welcome to the site, Alfajim.
I among others would like to hear stories of your adventures...
Pictures would be great, and are you working on something now?

Welcome from Georgia, Jim. We love pictures. Hint, hint. lol

Welcome from WI and thank you for your service.

As mentioned, pics please

You probably ran up in Boise against Gentle Ben from time to time .
Actually I was friends with Ron and built the engine and trans for his car. We were both in Boisy for a division 7 points meet when they landed on the moon we were all late to the track. I had the fast time for qualifying for the class.

I am working on getting some pictures as I have nothing left but know where some are. There is a good picture in the Dec 1969 issue of Drag Race mag.
As i am 82 now and keeping semi busy had by pass surgery in Dec. 2022 so don't have the energy or air as I used to just finished rebuilding my neighbors 700R4 tranny for his truck.
Being real busy watching all the racing on the tube NHRA, F1, NASCAR, Indy Car etc.
My avatar is me standing along side a Ferrari 1980 F1 car that I had just finished building the engine it was at Laguna Seca in 2004 it was an ex Gilles Villeneuve car we where part of the big Ferrari show that year the factory was there with a huge collection of F1 cars and GTO's 26 OF them, they even had Shumaker's 2003 world championship car with the factory test driver trying to set the track record from a Indy car didn't quite do it missed by one second. Toyota came two years later with there current 2006 thrid F1 car and tok 2 1/2 seconds of the record it still stands I was there to see it.

My first racing engine built when I was in high school junior and senior years in auto shop. Was a 331cu. in. Cadillac, bored .030 over balanced with 56 heads from American cyl. Heads, 56 Eldo dual four barrel set up used a 58 caddy cam with Chevy solid lifters and used Studebaker rockers for valve adjust. Was mounted in 50 Chevy convertible with a Packard trans and a 56 Pontiac diff. with a 4.30 gear from a 50 Pontiac, reworked Buick rear diff control arms to make the traction bars, car ran low 15's at 105/106 in quarter in 61 with street tires.
Had to build you hot rods back them from junk yards.

Makes my head sping just thinking of those old parts, I was not born till 58, 15s was a good pass back in the day with those old engines I would think, my very first was a 67 383, we put an insky cam shaft in it and all new bearings and what we called over sized rings on a perfect hone job by Glenn Francis in plant city Florida, had it in a 60es model truck my cousin raced, we never forget our first hands on build. Think his truck was a 13.50 truck.
