Hey guys, new to the Mopar scene, have always been a (shhh) chevy guy but now looking to 'convert' to Mopar.
Looking at a 73 Plymouth Scamp in the morning. Asking price is $300, engine/slant6 nonrunning, everything else is 'complete' (to be seen), and it has no paperwork.
Is this a good deal? The main concern I have is the lack of paperwork/bill of sale only.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome man. Former "Chevy Fan" of 30+ years myself...been part if the A-Body family for a few months and lovin it. You'll find folks here are a wealth of knowledge and a lot of fun.

To echo kim's comments, having the appropriate paperwork in hand is a good thing. Good luck and look forward to seeing your ride.

Welcome to echo everyone else lack of paperwork and the title is a bit scary. But if the car is solid and you can get a bill of sale.... Sounds like a good project.

Honestly in my opinion, even without papers 300 seems like a steal just for a parts car.. id just snag it and if you have issues with getting new papers then just find one with papers and have a solid parts car.. never hurts to have some extra parts around... panels doors things that could cost you well over 300 bones in the long run on a full resto.

    My thoughts.

    Good Luck.

Well.... the car I was looking at was a bust!! The picture the guy posted wasnt even the car as it sat. Had no bumper, lights, hole in roof that was filled with what looked to be wall joint compound for your house, interior was trashed, engine looked to be just sitting in the car, no radiator, tires were rotted way(told they would hold air), etc, etc..:mumum:
Very discouraging since I told the guy I would come put a deposit on it to hold it until I got a trailer. Traveled the 40 miles with my wife and 3 daughters (who were actually all stoked up about it) and find out he took a deposit on it earlier that morning.:banghead:
We will be keeping our eyes open for another A-body. Seems everyone in the family liked this one so the hunt is on. Think it will be my girls' "first" car and it will be passed on to each of them as they each get their license.

Re no title in CA, I bought my 65 Dart from a towing company. They did all the paperwork, which consists of mailing letters to prior registered owners, etc. I took the package to the DMV and they said "all in order". I wouldn't want to wade thru the paperwork myself.

I still need to bring the car by for them to check the VIN. They gave me a 2 mo temp tag, but has been 2.5 yrs so far. I'll see how bad they poke me when I get it in. They say the CHP will come to your house to check it if you call them, but that is a joke.
