New Small Block Headers

All good. I'm just staying on the thread starter about these headers by American Racing. I know plenty of people with low hanging headers that drive on the street.

I bought these because( among other reasons) they don’t hang low.
hopefully that is the case. The way they are built, and from what a guy who has a set says…..find out soon..lol

@smokindust has the set you’re mentioning and if he sees this, you can ask him. You can take it to the bank on what he says.

he already said they had more ground clearance than any other header he has had.

post 23 right in this thread:

Hey everyone. It’s been a while. Finally got some time to finish the header install and put the engine back together. .. now both head gaskets are leaking coolant. Don’t know if they were defective or what happened, but have to disassemble the top end once again and going to start fresh. Would you recommend I buy new arp head bolts? To anyone who advised against cheap headers, I understand now. With all this being said, I am looking for a set of nice headers that don’t hang under the steering linkage. Earlier in the thread, people had mentioned Schumacher tri-y’s and tti’s I believe. Any preference to either one? This is for a 1971 360 in a 73 dart sport. Thank you.

Get the Dougs. Fit extremely nicely, tons of ground clearance, good power.
would buy them before the TTI’s

The TTi headers on my Valiant don't hang particularly low. My oil pan's actually lower, but then again it has a tunnel through it for the drag link.

any reason besides possibly price? tti fit awesome too and great ground clearance. either way i'd save the money and get bare steel ones and paint them instead of coated that always seem to rust any way.

I have had both on A Body’s
had tti’s on a 70 Duster, Dougs are currently on my 69 Dart.
the Doug’s fit better, both are above the drag link.
if I could have either set for free, honestly would take the Doug’s

I ordered a set of Doug's from Autozone on Sunday evening. They were priced really low and had 20% off too (uncoated only). But, yeah there's always a butt and it's usually a big one, they haven't shipped them yet. They've already reached out and touched my credit card, so I'm still hoping that they will follow through but won't be entirely surprised if they don't.

A high quality gasket should be used. I myself have used Mr. Gasket Ultra Seals & Fel-Pro’s with great results.

If the flanges are 3/8 thick, use a bolt a 1/4 inch longer. ARP has these, that’s what I use.
