I agree but it wouldn't be as cool.
Jeremy I was wondering what size front wheels and tires you run on your Duster ? Also are you racing at No Problem division race on the 1st of March ?
I have a 15x4 front front wheels with 28 tire. Won't be able to make No Problem this year. I have made th race many times since they opened. I had medical and cash problems the last couple years. Had the National record there in 2017 but a friend from New Jersey bet me out by a hundredth of a second.
Jeremy , sorry to hear that, hope you get well soon and your money gets back to what you are used to having. thanks for answering my question, if ya don't mind I have another question about your car , what headers do you use ? Hope for maybe some good air in Houston and get that record back !
Thanks Jeremy, so you have two stockers ? Does the 440 6 pack Charger fit in D/S ? Are both of your cars Dusters ? Do you know Jeff Ferguson from New Orleans ? Love your Duster , hope you get to race again soon.
Yes,i have 2 cars the Challenger and the Duster that are near each other in the posts. Don't know Jeff I don't think but I do have lots of friends from that area. (Jeff Tuton, Ryan Becnal, Allen Sherman, Kevin Helms and many others. Yes the Charger is in the same class.
Yes I know Jeff Tuton and Sid Bonnecarrie well, but haven't been up that way for 15 years, turned some wrenches on those Hemi cars and the Duster and the trucks back at that time , Eventually I made it in the engine Room, lol ,but never in the Dyno when they were dyno race hemis and other race motors, very few got to go in there. lol Jeff Ferguson made a lot of power with the 360 and 318 aspens and set a couple of records back in the day, As far as I know about Jeff Ferguson he got out of racing and is a computer programmer now, to bad he was a very good engine builder.
I too have had a keen interest in the class, just never had the money to get into it............. When i went to any NHRA race, i was interested in the Stock and Super Stock class a lot more than the fuel classes.
Jeremy do you know if the same headers you are using would be ideal on an SS 360 Dart Sport, or larger tubes/collectors work better on a SS 360 ? The reason I ask is I just got my 73 Dart Sport back from 15 years ago and most all the parts are still there but need many upgrades .
What head casting number do you prefer to run, and was it a challenge to get your car light enough to run in D
FWIW, my Duster runs set of 1 3/4 tube Stahl headers with one tube running out the wheelwell. Prior to me owning car it has run these headers in stock, and superstock. I also now have a set of Hooker 5303 headers to try on the superstock engine. 1 7/8 tubes.
Don't know. I do know Stahl headsrs are very good. I have run them before and liked them but you can't get them anymore.
A good Superstock car cost alot more than a Stock car.
Yes Mr. Stahl passed away , we lost a highly intelligent racer and craftsman. Jeremy I looked at Performance Welding on facebook , he has the small block Mopar A body headers on front page they look awesome, I have a question for Ya, with the tube around the frame rail did it effect the turning radius with the 28 inch front tires ? Also did you gain any ET with SS headers ?
The old Stahls I had did have the tube around to frame, but I could still turn the wheel OK. The Performance Welding headers I have now do not have a tube around the frame. I have the tri-Y ones. I think I did gain with Marks Stainless Steel headers but I'm not sure how much, I put the on over the winter and and really didn't get a back to back. My headers are the same as Marks, his were the first set and mine were the second. I think the stainless headers are worth the extra money because they they dont rust out in a couple of years.
This guy bought Jere's stuff: ACP Headers Home
I believe Mark at Performance Welding only uses stainless to build his headers now.
I know stainless steel cost a lot more, but I think it's worth it in the long run. It will last a lot longer.
Jeremy Thanks for the tips ! Don't know if you mind or not , but who does your machine work , and heads ? Do you assemble your motors your self ?
. A 71 340 has more valve and more compression that the 72-73. Or does the carb itself make more power everything else being the same. What Dakota oil pan will work on an A body?
I have one of the specific Dakota pans with pickup, it fits an A body. If anyone is interested let me know. As I recal it is a 91 pan only that works.
The rear sump from the Dakota pan will clear the steering linkage on an a body?
Jeremy are you a machinists ? So you use the 360 oil pan from the magnum motors ? Any year in particular ? what type of hone does Mike Slabeck use ? or do you do your own honing ?
Thanks Jeremy, I am reading between the lines , Mark asked a couple of questions in regards to the headers that had me remembering things when I turned wrenches with Jeff and Sid at their gararge on the stock ans Super Stock cars and trucks.
The rules say... Stock oil pan. They don't care which car or truck it came off.
