68 CUDA FORMULA S
Well-Known Member
Now that the 74 Scamp is gone and the 66 Barracuda is finished I have been looking for a new project. I have had my heart set on doing a rag top of some sort and putting my freshly built 340 in it. I have driven to West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Cleveland Ohio, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and a few local area's of the lower Peninsula of Michigan that's a lot of miles, to make a long story short I have been to a lot of places in the last year looking at what I considered all to be part's car's nun of them to me were worth restoring. I have not stopped looking though and now I have three of them within a five mile radius of where I live. I do not have any pictures as of yet but I have gone to look at all three. The first one is a roller a 1968 Barracuda fast back formula S H code car, the car is very solid, it will need a windshield, a drive train, and front and rear seats, plus all the air conditioning parts under the hood are missing, as far as I can tell everything else is there. The second one is a 1967 Dart GT. rag top, it has been sitting in this guys barn forever and has about an inch of dirt on it, it has a transplanted 318, a 904 trans, and a 7 1/4 rear end. It will need the front bucket seats and some of the stainless trim is missing, and it will need a new top and the whole interior replaced, there is so much stuff all over this car it is hard to tell what is there and whats not, or if everything even belongs to this car. Besides needing to be completely taken apart and put back together the body looks pretty solid so do the floor pans and the frame rails. The third one is a 1968 Valiant Signet 2 door, this car is very solid, no rust anywhere. It has a few dings and dents that need attention and the PO has already painted the engine compartment, the trunk area, and the door jams. It has a 1968 340 in it with X heads freshly rebuilt along with a freshly built 727 trans and a new 2400 converter, it has a new 8 3/4 rear end with 3:73 sure grip and disc brakes all the way around. This car also has all new Legendary interior parts and I mean everything is new right down to the door lock knobs, and the PO has everything else for the car all boxed up and tagged, he claims that there is nothing missing and has duplicate parts of some. The Valiant is $3,500.00 more than the Barracuda and the Dart, both of them being the same price but the Valiant needs the least amount of work and has the nicest parts. I know that I am going to pick up one of these cars for my next project, I just don't know which one. Tell me what your thoughts are on this, which one of the three would you pick and why.
