I'm putting a 1970 Dart back together and there are hollow back nuts that hold the front and rear fender/quarter extensions in place. They were originally filled with a non-hardening sealer to seal the hole in the body where they attach. What sealer are folks using to reuse the nuts?

I got a huge role of gray strip calk at my hardware store for cheap.

Thanks for all the input, I'll be on the hunt for strip caulk in the morning!

Plumbers putty should work fine also. It comes in a little plastic resealable tub, and Lowes/Home Depot has it on the plumbing aisle. Oatey is the brand name.
