Campland, Mission Bay, San Diego. Dad and I were fixin' to launch our boat on the ramp there. Something gets his attention on the ramp. "hey! Come over here and watch this." He had spotted a man and woman with a 30ish foot cabin cruiser and a 3/4t pickup and camper getting ready to launch. Part that really got his attention was that they were "signing", one or both of them were deaf. They got the boat unhooked from the trailer and about halfway down the ramp and stop. Man gets out of driver seat, lady takes his place. Man climbs up to the bridge on the boat and signs a message to his driver. Lady starts the pickup and stands by. Man starts boat engine and signs the message. Truck goes into reverse, throttle goes down, boat trailer tires barely touch water and the brakes go on hard. Man nonchalantly backs the boat to the mooring, woman heads for the parking lot. Slickest boat launch we had ever seen :lol:

I don't know how anyone isn't smart enough to understand but it pertains directly to how vertical aspect ratios for pictures and video look terrible. Here is another way to look at it:

Taking it further for those that STILL DON'T GET IT, the picture of the guy with one eye over the other....

...Is a humorous depiction of the only person that sees a vertical type image and sees no problem with it.
EVERY TV screen, movie screen, desktop or laptop computer, every dash cam, every security video camera, every satellite photo is done in the traditional "Landscape aspect" where the picture is wider than it is tall.
The stupid choice of cell phone manufacturers to go with the "Portrait mode" as their default setting has resulted in society just taking pictures and video with their phones upright. It is disappointing to see people settle for such low quality when the fix is extremely simple....

Totally agree. It could be done, but not with him standing there so casually. Between the prop blast and the wind from the plane flying, he would have to be holding on with a death grip.

Of course not.
I'm not wrong about this. Vertical/portrait mode looks great for people standing, skyscrapers, rocket launches and giraffes but for just about everything else, the horizontal/landscape/widescreen aspect looks better. Vertical pictures makes it seem like you're looking through a narrow doorway.

I think vertical mode looks effin stupid for everything. I've tried and tried and tried to tell @Stephen Hotz that and he just ain't havin any of it. I love the guy but dammit. lol
