I'm kinda interested in this swap. I would want a turbo on it. I think the power to weight ratio would be pretty good but the wiring/computer stuff seems like it would be a nightmare.

Agree, that`s what would stop me from it , or a late hemi -------I`d want the 8 speed to go w/ it, I had a 4 speed/440 RT once, and don`t give a dam about shifting one after that , was a pain in the ass in the city !

I'm a truck driver so shifting doesn't bother me...too much. My 05 Cummins has a 6spd and it's a pain in LA traffic. My Valiant is 4spd, so it's staying manual. I have a complete 5.7 Hemi with a 5spd auto sitting in storage. The wiring for that is not too bad because of the company's that do it. But that 3.6 has a ton of wiring with no aftermarket support. I think a 3.6 turbo 5spd setup would be great for my Valiant

Would be , if a guy can get it sorted out, I`d still prefer the auto tho.

The 3.6l uses the same pcm as the 2012 and newer Hemi. The 3.6l v6 Jeep also uses the same 5speed NAG1 5speed auto that is a common swap. Just swap the bellhousing.

      Hardly no aftermarket suppport.
The OP already has a Hotwire harness to use as well as a Quicktime bellhousing for the TKO.

Diablosport and Hptuners both offer tuning software.

Edelbrock and 3 other vendors have bolt on superchargers and 3-4 others offer Turbo kits.

The 3.6 makes around 290 hp in a wrangler. Over 300 in a Charger Challenger. I would expect the valiant to drive like a 340 car and be able to get over 30 mpg.

ABSOLUTELY! Same/better crank hp AND 1/2 the weight.

Even better, its not uncommon for the Supercharged and turbo'd variants to be making around 400hp at the Wheels.

Not to mention Maserati uses a turbo charged version in the Ghibli. It is 3.0 with heads designed by Ferrari and twin turbos making over 410 hp

I saw that but its more different than similar. The only thing it has that's even remotely in common with the Pentastar is the block and maybe the water pump. The Maserati uses completely different heads, intake, cams ect. Its heads have "old school" individual exhaust ports and cast iron exhaust manifolds.

im planning a couple ecoboost turbos once I get it up and driving and the 300hp gets old

Oh I know there are critical differences. I was really just pointing out plenty of performance potential. I worked as a mechanic at a Chrysler Jeep Fiat Maserati dealer. Have spent lots of time getting to know the 3.6.

I did not know Hotwire builds a harness for it. I recently saw QuickTime has a bell housing. I've heard about the turbo/super kits for new challengers (neighbor was going to buy one but never did). I met a guy with a nice 300 that said he was buying a twin turbo kit that was good for 600hp. That would be fun in my little Valiant. This is sounding a little easier all the time. Just have to look at $$. I think it would be the perfect drivetrain for the purpose of my car.

Will a 3.6 bottom end take that much of a h.p. boost ??
I have 2014 ram shortbed that I absolutely love, runs great, fair amount of get up and go, very good gas mileage. But who woulkn`t want another 100 h.p and keep the mileage ? ---If , it`s dependable.

Considering most 3.6l make ~ 220hp at the wheels, an extra 150whp seems to be the norm.

600hp would seem a bit much, but there's plenty making 375-400whp without much issues.

That's great and I'm happy for you. Unfortunately some of us don't have access to the tools you do, so we're stuck paying for it. Any idea on how wide this 3.6 is? I have a '64 Valiant and I'm really considering this swap down the road. I've read the engine compartment is around 2inches narrower then the '67 up body. Where did you get your engine from?

Well you only need the $1200 QuickTime bell housing if you chose to use a +$2000 TKO 5 speed.

I've done tons of R&D on swaping a 3.6L and have listed several transmission options in my build thread:
                  72 Dart Swinger 3.6L Pentastar +T5

My 3.6L came out of a 2013 Wrangler.

Its ~23.25" wide at the exhaust ports, which stick out a bit past the valve covers.

                  For reference a 440 is 23.8"

Never gave the motor much thought. Until I just bought Avenger RT. Its a pretty high tech with good power and fuel economy.

Family sedans are as fast now as yesteryears muscle cars.
