I don't think there was any Rustang that was one of only 856. :)

I had a '68 289 with a bench seat, kind of an odd combo, especially with the 302 taking over for the 289 sometime in '68. Decided it was worth investigating to see if I could find some production numbers. Called several nationally known Mustang guys to get some help. The best I could ever get was percentages of the total run for the year. Most agreed maybe 5-10% percent of the 289 cars built that year had a bench. (One said as high as 15%) Exact numbers? I guess it's possible with the right options being studied by the numbers guys.

I have friends/clients that are into all kinds of cars. Right now, I can say that I have a 426 HEMI in my coronet wagon and not be fibbing. :) If you want a car (or part), I will find it.

Is it a GT/CS (California Special)?
there were over 4000 CS's made-maybe a High Country Special (Colorado) -but there were way less than that number of those made....

that said, you could work out any number of color/option choices and knock down the 'one of X' numbers. Happens in every car community (obviously).

Cant say they didnt make a few odd balls... I had an 85 gt twister 2.... 5 speed..hatchback and only made around 75 of that combo.
