If you want to go nuts, work an assembly line. Do EXACTLY the same thing over and over for 8 hours. Want overtime? Go even NUTTIER!
I was a tool and die maker in a plant that made automotive stampings. (Budd Co.) Building and maintaining the dies and assembly fixtures was great work.
However, sometimes, we could get overtime in production, if there was none in our shop. The longest 8 hours in my life! Foreman says, "Wanna work a double?" All I could do is picture the paycheck and say, "yes".

“The Rouge” video on YouTube is also very impressive. It shows Ford manufacturing in Dearborn in the sixties. The foundry in it looks like working a job in hell.
