I kid you not I am completely embarrassed, being an American, and seeing all these unAmerican vehicles running around here, like termites. I looked around the parking lot while we were at Rock City and it pissed me off seeing the assortment of "cars" in the spectator lot.

Several states will be outlawing the sale of gasoline cars in the future. I think a dozen or so have already crafted legislation.

I wonder if they considered the huge reduction in sales and other taxes they will experience?

I'm sure they did. They'll just raise registration fees, or start basing reg fees on annual mileage. They'll get their taxes one way or the other.

Heck, those Toyotas and Hondas are now made in here and in Southern States in particular. I'll have to dig it up but few years ago Toyota Tundras were made of more American parts than the Dodge 1500. Traditionally, there's really little/no nationalism in the car industry.

I agree that Mustang looks like shit.

Chicago has been trying to figure out how to get a mileage tax thru for a few years now. Even if you only work there and don't live there.
Why do you think I'm still driving a Durango with 280k, and am picking up body panels for an 85 D150, and have a 80 volare project and a 78 fury to drive? Just seeing ~85% of the cars around down here being Toyota, hon-duh, kia and Hyundai and damn few Ford's, GM's and Mopars on the road pisses me off having been born in work in, pay taxes to the USA, never having been to Korea or Japan. Why are we basically forced to support them instead of our own by buying their cars? Disgusting.even though these companies build cars here /when you buy one of their pieces o'crap the profits go "over there"

Well we took US 27 thru TN and saw lots more of what I was hoping to see.... Typical more Ford's and Chevys than dodge but lots of 70s and 80s pickups a few broncos and several square body k series blazers. Lots better than looking at Toyotas and Hondas! Back to I-75 now in KY.

At one time the only mini pickup made in USA was the VW Rabbit pickup.

The problem with "...but those foreign cars are built here" is that the profit goes back to Japan.

If it did not, they wouldn't do it.

The problem with "the profits go back to" is that auto manufacturers are multinational corporations. They are only patriotic when they need a bailout, tax break, or military contract.

The Big 3 have been worldwide manufacturers since the early 1900's. They manufactured in and for Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Soviet Russia, Fascist Italy, etc. etc..

Today, if you want to buy a new Jeep or Ram truck you are buying a Stellantis product.

Who is Stellantis? A Dutch multinational corp.

Who is a shareholder of Stellantis? Dongfeng-A Chinese State owned auto and military weapons manufacturer based in Wuhan.

Sorry folks. There is nothing patriotic about automobile companies and there never was.
